I would highly advise listening to Jeff and putting this protector on your bike. I as well as several of my friends have cut hoses out on the trail.

I made my own when I first got my tpi bike. Wish this would’ve been out then! I may have to buy this anyway and replace my home made job! And on the radiator guards. Jeff is right. If you crash hard enough to break Bullet Proof rad guards, you’ve got bigger problems than a pinched hose! Awesome product on the hose guard and of course Bullet Proof makes awesome stuff.

So funny story 😂 I had the oem hose on with bullet proof radiator guards. 19 Tx 300 First ride on the bike I crashed on a downhill rock garden. A rock somehow bent the spout of the radiator and split the hose. I bought myler radiators and a samco hose kit to hopefully prevent that in the future. No problems since

Jeff this is so elegant! My 20TE300 and at least 3 other guys I ride with XCWs have dumped water on the trail. Ordering a few now. Be safe!

Hoses tend to split when you don't do proper preventive maintenance and the rubber becomes brittle from oxidation. The thermostat isn't for helping it worm up quicker. It's for establishing and maintaining a minimum operating temperature. And yes, Samco hoses are, hands down, some of the best quality formed hoses on the market.

Roger: Thanks for your insight but I respectfully must disagree. I've seen 20 year old KTMs with the original hoses that were not oxidized or brittle. The thermostats main purpose is to warm up the engine quicker and has a minor effect on maintaining engine temp. Samco hoses are hand wrapped, not formed from a mold.

Crashed my 2022 KTM 300 this weekend. I have the bullet proof radiator guards on AND they bent back, pinching the hose and caused a leak. Mounting bolts on the radiator guards did not break. No other issues outside of leaky hose. Not stoked on the hose placement there!

The real solution would be the elbow exiting the radiator will turn at 45°up or 90° up with corresponding hose fitment. But that's on KTM design team.

Thermostat delete does NOT solve the issue. I had thermostat delete and samco hose and after just ONE ride the puncture occurred again. It’s bc the bolt pinches the hose against the radiator elbow joint

I added my own piece of additional pipe and filed the sharp edge off of p.v cover bolt.

I guess that removing the thermostat could be a problem in hot weather since the fan doesn't start before boiling over.

The fan should be set to come on WAY before boiling over and the thermostat does not have anything to do with that.
