Ella M the boys explained that they wanted to include the drum beats from Youngblood in Killer Queen .... but they had to get permission from Roger and Brian to do it the way they wanted to (Ashton’s idea I believe)

Ella M I was so surprised how fast he picked up on it HAHA it took me like a few listens to realize it’s the same as Youngblood.

It is so good to be able to hear your opinion, to think that Calum himself said that they almost didn't put Wildflower on the album due to the vocals. They made it clear that the experience with this cover was what made them explore more their vocal capacity and I couldn't be more proud

killer queen is one of my favorite songs of queen and when 5sos made a cover of it, I lost my mind. this is 5sos' one of best covers ever, they also made a cover of Stay by Post Malone that's my other favorite cover of them. I would like to see your reaction to their 3rd album Youngblood. also FUN FACT: They wrote "Red Desert" right after they made this cover, Luke (lead singer, guitarist) said the harmonies in Red Desert were inspired by how they recorded the killer queen cover and the way queen used to record their harmonies.

@@BlakeMcLain also you were right about the influences on youngblood. Doing this cover really inspired the band for that album and song. In a way I think it kinda marks a before and after in a way since their first two albums are a little different to the previous ones.

5sos other albums are: • Youngblood (2018) • Sounds Good Feels Good (2015) • Self Titled (2014) I'm sure all of us would love to see you reacting to them 🖤🤟🏻

Wow, I didn't expect that Youngblood would be so similar to Killer Queen in that aspect. The fact that you're able to tell just emphasizes the fact that you're a great producer. I'm not even able to tell, even after listening to it for about 2 years😂 And I'm so glad you reacted to the making of it. You got to see a bit of their personalities, and that dorkiness in them. Youngblood Deluxe version is an all time fave

They did basically exactly what Queen did and it made me SO proud of the boys for doing it that way!!

I would love to see your reaction to Harry Styles covering "Girl Crush (BBC)", "The Chain (Live Lounge)", "Juice (Live Lounge)" and "Wild thoughts (Live Lounge)". Also Harrys first album (Harry Styles) is really good and seems to have quite a mix of different influences (genres) on there.... His second album Fine Line is very different from the first one but a masterpiece in it's own way 😍 Oh and you have to listen to "Medicine (St.Paul)" as well! There is no studio version of that song -sadly- but the video of his live performance in St. Paul does have good(-ish) audio....😊 I personally really enjoy listening to his albums, covers and voice in general - but I might be biased af so don't come at me if you don't like any of those suggestions 😇 Also, I really love your way of reacting to songs - it's entertaining yet educating in a way (if that makes any sense at all) 🥰 Keep up the good work and I hope to see you reacting to any of my recommendations soon 😊 Edit: (Don't judge me, I literally copy/pasted my comment from his previous reaction but I'm desperate and want him to see and react to the mentioned songs above - don't mind me spamming this comment on every video from now on 😂)

FINALLY someone else recognized the resemblance of Youngblood and Killer Queen. When killer queen first came out it was the first thing I noticed and as a none music producer, was very confused.

Yes they did Red Desert exactly like this and you’re correct in that they used parts of Youngblood in this track. I believe it was Ashton’s idea to utilise parts of Youngblood but they had to get permission from Roger and Brian. He refused to give it a go unless they could use Youngblood lol It’s one of my fave tracks they’ve done
