PROCOL HARUM: A WHITER SHADE OF PALE, (ALL FOUR VERSES !!), HARLEQUIN THEATRE, REDHILL,19 JULY 1997
Музыка
In grateful memory to Gary Brooker (1945-2022)
Procol Harum celebrating their 30th anniversary in Redhill, 19 July 1997.
Line up :
Gary Brooker - voc, piano
Graham Broad - drums
Dave Bronze - bass
Matthew Fisher - organ,
Mick Grabham - guitar
Matt Pegg - upright bass
An extremly rare recording of A WHITER SHADE OF PALE with all it's four
verses. In 1967 the song was recorded in a two verse version to make it fit the 3 minutes single format. This full version is about 9 minutes long.
This is a private audience long distance shoot, therefor somewhat blurred.

My and my deceased wife's all-time favorite. So many memories, so many Karaokes. Such a soulful song. Such a truly great singer! RIP Gary.
Little wonder that Boom Radio listeners voted it the number 1 song for the fourth year running. Absolutely stunning. God bless you, Gary, RIP.
Peter Frampton said that is the best song ever. I agree with the great Peter Frampton. In memory of Gary Brooker, one of the best voices of rock.

There will never be another singer like him 2:26
I first heard this melody in 1968 on board a Soviet cargo ship crossing the Atlantic. I remember for the rest of my life.
One of my favorite all-time songs. A PURE masterpiece.
So sad we will not see Gary live again This is the greatest song of all times

Excellent, the hair on my neck react to this, what passion on the key’s.
Arguably the single most transformative song in the history of rock.
All four verses live ... file this away folks. Might be the best version of all time.
The late Gary Brooker, has risen in glory and rests in peace ✌🏿💕
This is a classic! He will be missed--but his music will live on!

I reckon so my friend. I recall my Father bringing the 45 record home when it was released, I knew then it was to become timeless....enjoy it like it is the first time everytime, now that is really something good in this troubled world.
Just realised Gary Brooker has passed, passing of a legend, RIP

Depends on where you were. Vietnam War was going on killing millions of innocent lives. American youth were rebelling, Black Power was emerging country still in shock after JFK. I wish I'd heard this song then. It could have helped soothe broken hearts. assasination.

One song - but the Best .
No matter how many times I hear this song it never becomes so so,just a great song and surely the mark of a timeless masterpiece is that it sounds as good the thousandth time as it did the first.

Yes - that is nothing but the truth; it never becomes just so-so. I can't think of many other songs of which that is true - maybe some Beatles' tunes.

There’s no good music being made now. I think that’s why people are so lost.
Thank you Hermann for filming this. Will be so missed.
That's Matthew Fisher on the organ. He wrote the iconic organ part of this song and performed it on the original 1967 release.

Agree! Brilliant organist. Without his organ music the song would be less powerful. Glad he got compensated for his contribution.❤❤ RIP Gary.

That organ riff is such a melancholy throwback…. It’s unmistakable isn’t it? The garbage “music” today has no such impression.
