Similar in Indonesia we have green " cingcau " jelly and black " cingcau " jelly... Those originated from different plant leaves species. Green jelly is extracted from the leaves of Cyclea harbata Miers ( Menispermae family) in which raw extracted using drinking water , filtered it and kept in refrigerstor a few hours. While black jelly is extracted by boiled rehydrated dried leaves from Mesona palustris for several hours then filtered and cooking once again with additional tapioka in order to set the texture in room temperature the next day. Both green jelly or black jelly could be served with ice and syrup with or without coconut milk or milk...
