Probably should've burned this one

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This week Trena repairs and refinishes an old drop leaf table. It was made from pine and hadn't held up very well over the years. In the end he fights to colour-match a difficult factory stain that was mostly opaque.
Thanks for watching. If you enjoy my video and would like to say thanks you can now buy me a coffee! This will just help me to be supported while I continue to make these videos for everyone to enjoy. Cheers to all my wonderful subscribers! www.buymeacoffee.com/JohnsFur...

This is a great illustration of the decisions that have to be made in furniture restoration. Your instincts are spot on: this is a functioning piece of furniture, not a piece of art. It was built as a functioning piece of furniture and should be restored to be one. That is the best way to honor the original maker.

Your repair skills are wonderful to watch, but it is your ability to match colours and apply finishes that amazes me the most. That brand of toner also is incredible to use, but again, it is your usage of it that can only be learned through experience. Good choice on deciding to replace the top, rather than try and repair it. Also, the huge knots had their charm, but they tended to aesthetically get in the way of the table's beauty and functionality. Overall, I can't imagine the client NOT being happy with what you ended up doing. Congrats! Love your work.

hello, I volunteer at the seashore trolley museum in Kennebunkport, Maine. Over the years I've been involved with many restorations. When it comes to matching colors, paint and stains. The best way is to go outside and use the natural daylight. Overcast days are best the lighting is balanced. Incandescent lighting such as tungsten, florescent, and L.E.D. changes the actual color by eye sight being used as a sample. We get a perfect match every time. You're doing a great job. Love your work.

So glad you decided to change the table top ,that's a whole lot of science involved in the final coloration of that table ,your finished product is always amazing ,Once again you knocked it out of the park ,you have much more patients than I ,it's brilliant Trena
