Well to be fair this video is showing ONE tekken tip...having to do with handling enemy pressure. And using jab is a good thing to introduce and talk about since most players aren't bonafide pros like you. Also just took a look at the youtube upload you had of you playing TEKKEN recently I'm pretty sure you could learn a lot from using the single jab because you didnt really show any knowledge of how to use this basic skill in your gameplay.

@@TkAnakin I'm just a random casual tekken player looking for tips to improve. Sorry, but dealing with pressure is one of my many weaknesses and i was just expecting a little bit more explanations from an actual real pro like you in this vid. Of course my vid dont display any knowledge or skill, this was just a test to see how its working on youtube, i've never pretend to be a good player...far from it. English is not my first language so maybe i had a bad understanding or i missed the explanations you gave here. So yeah, i'm going back to practice to try out this tip. I appreciate you took some of your time to answer me.

@@elephant7812 I'm glad I could change your mind. Thank you as well for clarifying It looks simple but using a single jab can be complicated and it's different from using 1,2 or any other long jab string. If you find good spots to land the jabs against your opponent you can lock THEM down instead. Good luck

@@TkAnakin Sorry to have been a clumsy ass on the initial comment. I was a bit frustrated not to have more explanations. My bad. I'm oftenly stuck by + frames/ forced crouch moves from my opponents and i thought jabs were not a solution to get out of it...i realize now that maybe i was just mashing too much with no good timing. I m sure this is just a lack of practice from me. Thks

Man it really impresses me how close this game can be to real fighting sometimes. BUT OF COURSE A JAB IS WHAT WILL FUCK WITH YOUR OPPONENTS PRESSURE, just like in boxing, The Jab is your Offense and Defense. Thanks for opening my eyes. time to go get my ass kicked but not as bad now.

Anakin, thanks for this. I needed reminding about how much mental frames pokes give you. They literally allow you to keep up with the pace and force people to respect you.

So you use the jab to check their defence? Or to stop their offence? I will keep that in mind

That’s why it’s called a poke, to either see how they react (the opposing player) or get some frames in and catch them pressing buttons. Depends on the move and the properties it has on block/hit so jabs are +1 on block usually but if predicted can be blocked. So that’s why a df1 is good because it’s fast and mid.

Can be ducked sorry not blocked

  • @Kenlac92

It can be both, because a single 1 jab can either hit for some damage amd pressure, or it can on block give you +1. Its useful for following up with something thats 11f and will trade with an oncoming jab, or beat anything slower. Usually leaving you even more plus. Its a great way to build momentum and reinforce your "turn". A jab is usually not something that would make the opponent duck, but if it does, your mids are usually beyter than most of their options out of crouch. Crouch isnt something you want to do proactively for that reason, its risky. It could be free damage or even a launch. But back to the jab, it establishing your follow up and allows you to enter their space. You can now grab them if rhey do nothing, go for a low poke to condition a crouch response, or just backdaah out. Sometimes a jab into nothing leaves the threat there for them to consantly think about. Earlier ranks wont be thinking about that though and wont respect the frames so its best in those cases to just use that frame advantage to your benefit.

This is why crouch/dick jabs (1, not 2) are super useful. They're 10f high crushing, and shuts down pressure pretty easily. Magic 4 is also pretty useful against people who spam df1.

@@pianoaddict772 im not sure on this, but i do believe that while they are high crushing and fast, you arent plus afterward. Just neutral, but youve stopped their momentum. Correct me someone if thats wrong.

Thank You for the video. But thats not helping me alot. When I'm jabbing against pressure. F.e. Spamming Hwo, Eddy, Chloe, Xiayou I end up getting launched by high crushers. Its still kinda hard to deal with that. I'm currently stuck in Divine Ruler because of that.
