Pro-Russian deepfakes: Slovakia fears election interference | DW News
As people across the European Union prepare to vote for a new European Parliament in June, fears are rising that deepfakes and AI-generated disinformation campaigns could sway public opinion in the run-up to the vote.
The threat is real, as Slovakia's experience shows. Unlike any other EU member state, the small country in central Europe has already witnessed the impact of deepfakes-clips in which people appear to be doing or saying things they never did.
In the capital of Bratislava, we meet a fact-checker tasked with debunking online disinformation and an investigative reporter who traced the origins of a widely circulated deepfake. And we hear from a senior former government official who warns that his home country has become ever more vulnerable to disinformation campaigns.

Yes, Russia did it. Europe needs to wakeup and take Russia seriously like in Cold War
When we see how Russia can deeply subvert Germany or Spain, we can easily imagine how bad it must be in small Slovakia, which is linguistically close to Russia.
Slovakia govt has turned out to be a huge disappointment, siding with the RW pro-Pooty faction.

Russia has really targeted Slovakia and Czechia! This is VERY bad for all European Parliament elections! Besides both Czechia and Slovakia, Russia is targeting Germany extremely hard. I really hate to see former Soviet Bloc countries leaning right again and don’t think the people feel that way but. Russia is all too willing to assist friendly politicians in doing well and hopefully winning.

Perhaps you would like to list all of the coups that either Russia or the Soviet Union have instigated? Interesting that you include Ukraine 2014, the "coup" that was ended by negotiations between two branches of the government. I also never knew that handing out cookies to protesters was inciting a coup, but I live and learn.
