I feel like a just took an introductory class in interior design. It was thrilling. I don't think small apartment design gets enough media coverage. - please keep going with this concept.

If you are looking for inspiration for small apartments, I'd warmly recommend Alexandra Gater here on KZread. She has tones of amazing solutions and beautiful designs. I am addicted to her videos. :)

This should be a series! I feel like I learned a lot in this video. Love the before and after and the explanations along the way. I can’t really conceptualize space and design in this way so this is very helpful!

It is a series, he has already done a number of these, but this is the first one with conceptual renderings, which add so much to the videosl
I'm all for the daybed if it's comfortable. If you live in a studio you have to decide whether you'd prefer to live in a bedroom or a living room. After trying both, I opted for the living room set up, which meant a daybed.

So do you make it up every night for sleep or do you leave the bedding in place until company comes over? I’m thinking about getting one now 😅
@dhgemein2

Yes,@@JeniWoo, I make it up every night. I have a cabinet a few steps away where the bedding stays hidden away during the daytime. The mattress cover stays on, though, and I cover it with a pretty blanket on top of which I arrrange some throw cushions. The latter migrate to a chair overnight.

my husband and I ended up having a futon and some floor furniture; so at night we pull out the futon (and pillows and comforter); during the day we put it away and instead we take out a foldable coffee table and foldable floor chairs it requires discipline to put things away every morning and evening; but it's so worth it, our room is small but feels so spacious

I’ve seen great studios that have separate. No way do I want to pull out a bed every night.

Same,I’ve owned/lived in few different studio apartments & always opt to have it look like a living room as that’s nicer to entertain guests or relax alone in. If affordable I do love Murphy beds though, that double as something else when closed up, like a desk or dining area. And they have to be gas lift so you can easily move up or down with one hand.
Getting rid of the bed is a wild call
Darren is such a great presenter, I love how he can read the people and the needs and translate them to average joe understanding :D
oh that mirror trick is amazing! not only made the room look brighter but it made it seem bigger, more spacious too
Not only did I love the final design, I loved how he brokedown the issues and addressed everything in an organised way. Well done!

It is a great way to virtually add space to a small apartment. The biggest problem with small places is the landlords who constantly say don’t change this or drill here. But everything you’ve proposed is fantastic.
Love the design he came up with but I think it’s lacking in terms of being aligned with Sara’s preferences, and the rendering is not accurate to his drawing for the daybed and coffee table. The rendering gave her a regular depth sofa I’m guessing 84” length (regular slightly long sofa), not a daybed, and a bigger coffee table. Sleeping on a regular depth sofa even without the cushions is like sleeping on a slightly narrow twin bed. Clearly Sara most likely doesn’t want to sleep on a twin bed or she would’ve already had a twin bed🥴 Homegirl wants enough sleep space for a guest to sleep over. She needs a deep daybed at minimum. An accurate rendering would show less floor space open in front of an actual day bed and a smaller coffee table. Also, Sara clearly likes a neutral palette… if she wanted pops of color, she could’ve easily done that herself also. My guess is she may not like the warm pops of color with the sofa cushions and chairs. The space he designed is really beautiful and efficient, but probably would not make Sara happy if she were a paying client.
This should be a series, he's the best designer on this channel by a mile!
Loved how he explained every step of the redesign, especially the part about making use of the light and where it lands. The rendering feels too modern compared to Sara's taste as it shows in her before pictures but the layout looks perfect.
Darren Jett is just so talented. The space he created is gorgeous perfection. I loved the idea of moving light around with a mirrored coffee table and mirrored screen, and the double purpose bed and table.
Darren is my favorite interiour designer this channel has introduced.
Well thought out and presented BUT so disappointing that it was only rendered rather done. Give him some money and let’s see what it would really look like. This is why I love Alexandra Gater and Lone Fox.

exactly. A rendering is NOT REAL. Do it in real life and youll find out that what hes designed is NOT PRACTICAL.
Disagree about the total white walls. It becomes a cold box when a small apartment is painted true white. The mirrored screen is ingenious!
Loved the design! But white is very demanding! One little spot on that daybed and you are done. For regular use, it wouldn't be a practical solution to use a white daybed/sofa.
I love his designs, they always turn out great.
It’s really beautiful but let’s be for real NOBODY wants a day bed (where people have been sitting on… leaving their outside germs everywhere) to sleep in, most people I know would probably want that separation of sleep and relaxation … also being that close to the door is off putting 😅 but that’s just me I guess

I love daybeds.. you don't speak for 7 billion people
Darren Jett, you did a great job on Sarah's small apartment. I agree with you- a daybed would be perfect. I think she is use to the traditional bed and traditional sofa. That may be why she felt she needed both. I like the idea of a mirrored coffee table. You made everything lighter and more spacious. Thanks for the video.
WE NEED MORE DARREN JETT!!!
Darren’s back! Yay!! Great design ideas. I guess Sarah has unlimited funds for those items? PS.”Cigarette tooth” is now part of my vocabulary.
We need more of this and him.
Oh it's an apartment? Final rendering looked like a therapists office
Darren is amazing! I would absolutely love to see him, Becky and Lula in one episode of Space Savers!! They’re my faves!
I enjoyed AND become enlighten listening to Darren and how he dissects the issues, integrate the residents' needs, intellectually develop the remedy and artistically create a living space so vastly improved that even though it's a small space the redesign looks so different it does not seem as if it is the same location.
Oooh wish you’d given us more time to see and appreciate the end result - fabulous transformation
Omg the finished product looked so glam, soft& inviting
Paper ripping though 😂 so dramatic and I love the design you are a true gem❤
Love it. The space is functional and beautiful! The drape for the kitchen is fabulous!
Too bad that after waiting for the final results you see only 2 or 3 quick shots
I always get so excited when I see Darren in a video!
I love this! Wish it could actually be done for Sarah to post results in the real space
Love the design! I’m just not sure someone renting a studio would be able to afford all of those premium furnishings. Doesn’t seem financially sound.
Wow, this was an excellent makeover but what made this video even better was the really clear and detailed way that the designer explained his process. Loved watching this and learned a lot!
Jett is my favorite ever
Genius, artistic, yet practical!!! ❤
Gorgeous transformation!
BRAVO!! Darren thank you for sharing these amazing details. Your gift for design is fantastic.
I would never trust a white sofa, especially with having friends over for cocktails.

Wow!! Beautiful finale ❤
I agree with all comments. Loved learning about the design thought process! Thank you!
Great video. Darren is clear, concise and informative.
The tip about following where light falls into the room was genius and really changed the light in the space.
I love the sound of that paper each time 😊
Love all the suggestions !
I love him! He’s so informative and helpful 🤎
Whoever came up with the premise for this and married it with the genius of Darren Jett. A+
Darren and his grand curtain moments are just the best!! Another amazing design!!❤
What I would do is take a lot of her stuff, move it near the door, outside the building, and into a human-sized apartment.

Daybeds are amazing!. They should be used more in small apartments.
Love it!! I really hope to see Darren Jett more
Love these videos, I learn so much. I’ve lived in my DC townhouse rental unit for five years. The living room is long and serves as the living, dining, and desk space. The kitchen is outdated and lacks storage solutions. Because the unit is long but has many functions, we struggle with paths for walking without narrowing the space. We painted the walls earlier this year to bring color into the space, but now struggle with adding art and lighting that works for the unit. We have a brick fireplace and hardwood floors that we love and I’ve done my best to remove clutter (especially on the floor), but I’m feeling stuck in next steps to make this place the eclectic city hideaway I want it to be
That was incredible
Darren you are fabulous.
I love this video, do more like this 😊
I appreciate his talent!
Look at that beautiful renderings. 🎉
A really terrific design and a fabulous presentation!
Magnificent transformation ❣️
This was amazing!
I learned so much!
That was amazing💫
Decorators white is one of my favorite colors! It works great for trim.
Love this!
Amazing!
Best episode yet
Really well done!
Magical!
Nobody wants to pull out their bed every night unless they’re transient. The space looks more open now but it feels more sterile, lacks personality and barely any time was spend showing us the changes talked about. The end felt very rushed.
wow incredible make over what a great job.
Not sure that someone who can only afford a studio apartment is gonna be able to spend thousands of dollars on all this but the overall redesign does make more sense and it’s a nice dream.
6:36 that laugh is life though 😂
Darren does it again! More, please.
Wow what a great video! Giving me ideas as I just moved to a smaller space
This guy needs his own channel.
It's AMAZING!!!!! Who knew 🤷♀🤷♀
Very cool…but all that white? And I have to kind of make my bed every night? I’m pretty much sleeping on just the couch instead. 😊
Cool! This is very informative and entertaining at the same time, 🥰😮
I love this guy so much.
This makeover is intelligently and practically done. It is one that the average person can relate to. No whacko colors, and respectful of the person who lives there.
Love it 🎉
Very helpful video❤
Just wow.
Fantastic ❤
this was fun to watch!
Amazing. The designer 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks Darren! I loved your ideas re mirror, curtained closet, lighter colours & improved flow. Personally prefer separate bed & sofa. Not always easy to have both in a tiny apartment tho. Big hugs 🥰❤
Very very bright rendering
Great tips for most New Yorkers
Doubt if this guy EVER had slept one single day on a daybed

@@louduva9849Seems like people doesn't care about LIVING in a comfortable place for... dunno... let's say... DECADES! It's just an irrelevant "detail". What an architect really does is making thinks look beautiful. 🙄 Yeah, design still bleeds to this day.
the coffee table is in the way when you walk into the apartment. You immediately have to step around something the moment you arrive.
