Private SNAFU "The Aleutians - Isles of Enchantment (Oh Brother!)" WWII 30810 HD

One of 26 Private SNAFU (Situation Normal, All F*cked Up) cartoons made by the U.S. Army Signal Corps to educate and boost the morale of the troops. The SNAFU character was created by Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) and Phil Eastman, and most were animated by Warner Brothers Animation Studios. They were voiced by actors including Mel Blanc and scored by Carl Stalling. This episode includes a humorous look at the Aleutian Islands and their strategic value.

    I live in Alaska. It does indeed get "quite breezy" here but it doesn't die down as quickly as it arrives lol. Very enjoyable video. Thank you all

    @J HB - 👍👍 My dad, a USAF pilot, was also stationed there, in Adak in 1949-1950. In fact, my older sister was born there at the base hospital. My dad had told me many times while I was growing up how extremely dangerous flying there was as the weather was not only hazardous, but worse, completely unpredictable (as depicted in this SNAFU cartoon).

    Wow my dad also same unit the bear patch! I have like a 250th Coast Artillery year book I got from his house after he passed away it’s really cool soldiers signed and wrote salutations ect in it his book, if you never saw send me a message I can send you some photos I’ll take of the year book. I think there is a web site i put some photos on years ago I have to find what we site that was. Cheers!

    I used to live out there. The POW camps are still standing. Lots of WW2 bunkers and tunnels

    My was stationed there from 53-56. When I was in bmts I had to fill out a dream sheet ( where you want to be assigned) 1st choice Alaska.

    Those are Elephant Seals...I was born and raised in Alaska and those are some of the weirder looking animals we have up here. Of course, they probably say the same thing about us humans...
