@@taksiobs tough to comment mate - I think the major motivation is going to be the Medicare levy and the age at which you enter to avoid the lifetime loading. You would have to work out how much you would be spending on dental and what you would get back when crunching the numbers for your personal situation.

hello sir sorry if my question seems incompetent. When I turn 25 I will have to leave my parents health policy. Currently, BUPA doesn't sell the policy I'm covered under anymore. When I turn 25 will I be able to keep the same policy or will I be forced to pick another policy?

  • @CraigBigelow

@@peterparkes6944 this isn't something I am an expert in Peter, it would be best to contact BUPA and ask the question. Alternatively, you could check out the government comparison site (see comments) should you require a new policy

I'm sitting in the private hospital right now and I think its worth it. I normally pay 30pw for medicine, but it's covered, so I save on that and still get cover.

Hi Craig, thank you for this effort mate, our son with really bad tonsils and going public have us now on a one tear waitlist to get them removed. I’m considering a private health insurance but not sure whether he will be eligible to get it done as he was diagnosed with tonsillitis and put on a waitlist before we purchase a private insurance or if I have to have this conversation with the insurer before signing up? I would really appreciate any direction on this, new in Austeralia and feeling a bit lost 😞 Our doctor offered us to do the surgery out of pocket and it was almost $6000 🥴. Which I would if I could 🤕

Hey Craig awesome video gave me alot of insight. Had a couple of questions. Can you have 2 x separate health funds? Reason why I ask, i am from Western Australia and trying get family ambulance cover both urgent and non urgent. Been very frustrating researching. Currently with HBF but to add daughter who 4 to policy got quoted $80 extra a fortnight over a year seems excessive. Look other funds but asking me cancel and transfer fund over but do not want that as have gap saver with HBF so can have other fund for ambulance cover and any health funds should consider for ambulance cover at reasonable price.

Hi Greg, sorry I missed this comment mate thanks for checking out the video. Health Insurance is not one of the policies I give specific advice on so I would suggest contacting the funds directly or checking out the government website which could point you in the right direction - www.privatehealth.gov.au/

Hi Craig, have just discovered your great posts, thanks. Can you advise if my Mum in her 90’s should keep the hospital cover of her private health? Although being a private patient all her life, living in country towns, she has always been a public patient and never used hospital cover. Extras Mum uses for Podiatry and Physio so still really never reaches her dollars worth of private health. Know all scenarios differ, just want to hear your thoughts? Thank you

Hello Craig, I just got my permanent residency which means I.ll be able to apply for my Medicare. I'm confused whether to go with private insurance or not even though I had been using it due to my visa condition. So what would you recommend to me. Thanks.

I reckon it comes down to the situation, if you are paying the Medicare Levy Surcharge, yes may as well instead of paying the extra tax. Outside of that, there would be a fair case to not have this assuming you were comfortable with the public health system which for us is pretty good. What do you think?

Medicare-for-all is a good idea for all American's young and old. and it can be controlled on who can get coverage and who can't get coverage. Ok if you just what you're citizens to have Medicare for all it can be controlled like that. The government can make a roll if you go to a Doctor you have to prove that your a US Citizen.
