Thank you Jackson Healthcare for your support to the Canine Companion Prison Puppy Program. Our team now includes Malcolm III who was started by the wonderful ladies at Gadsden Correctional facility. Malcolm is now my son's skilled companion dog. We graduated in May of this year and things have been changing for us on a daily basis. We can not say enough about the program and the independence that my son now has because of all of the people who have teamed up to make this happen. Not only can he do more because of the help that Malcolm has offered he also has more confidence in his own skills. They truly are an amazing team that I am proud to be the handler/mom too.

This needs to be implemented in every prison, how amazing

Several yrs ago I saw a TV special about "prison dogs". The inmates were taught how to interact with and rehabilitate troubled dogs. The dogs are with their trainer 24/7. One example was a dog that was terrified of everything. After a lot of work there was a clip of the dog STRUTTING in the prison yard. The other inmates were smiling like - That's OUR dog. Given the background of those other inmates, if anyone even THOUGHT of messing with that dig it would be an instant death sentence. An unexpected benefit was that serious incidents dropped by 45%!!!
