“It’s not just about mobilizing the Church to bring hope inside. It’s about letting the local church encounter what Jesus is already doing there. It’s about ministry with, not to, our brothers and sisters behind bars. It’s about inside-out revival.”
Those words by Heather Rice-Minus set the tone for the Prison Fellowship Board of Directors meeting, held in February of 2024, during which Rice-Minus was unanimously confirmed as the ministry’s new president and CEO.
In attendance were Emily and Chris Colson, whose father Chuck Colson founded Prison Fellowship in 1976. Emily Colson addressed the meeting’s attendees, saying in part, “God surrounded our dad years ago with a wonderful group of people to launch Prison Fellowship and He continues to call people to serve in this ministry. Prison Fellowship has always belonged to God.”
With music, guest speakers, prayers over the new ministry president, special guests, and more, this gathering of the ministry’s board was a significant and sacred moment.
