Well she has just based her career on an xwife's lies. Read "Child Bride" that is the truth about not so innocent Priscilla. they don't even touch on her devotion to the Church of Scientology putting her daughter in it at only 12. She doesn't tell you about the affairs she had while married to Elvis, eventually running off with her married Karate instructor. Where is that? Where is the time she demanded more money from Elvis even putting a lien on Graceland? Where do you find her illegit son by Scientologist Marco. Where do you find them opening up Graceland and getting a million a year salary? Gee, that's not in the movie.

Way too unrealistic though, and Elvis wasn't really like that. He was a "mama's boy" and very soft, considerate in general. Not an aggressive type beyond his childish tantrums. He simply didn't get the chance to mature normally (was stuck at age 20 or so) but his general demeanor was always gentlemanly and empathic as a result of his upbringing. He was likely immature in his dealings with women and with his sexuality. (When Natalie Wood dated him in the early days she called him dull and too gentlemanly.) Back to the height thing though, Elvis was only about 5'11" and Priscilla was 5'4". The disparity wasn't abnormal or as noticeable as it would be with these actors.

I am not a hater of either Priscilla or Elvis so, I have no skin in the game. But, I saw the movie last night and just really thought the movie was boring, to be honest. Not even interesting enough for tv. I kept looking at the time and was grateful when the movie was over. And, yes, it was choppy. I agree with that. The young lady who played Priscilla did a good job, though. That's really the only positive thing I can think of to say. The guy who played Elvis was awkward and goofy. And, they made the Memphis Mafia look silly and immature. But, overall just a waste of time and money. It just appeared so low budget and so boring, that it surprised me when I found out it was Sophia Coppola's film.

PRISCILLA honestly reminded me a lot of MARIE ANTOINETTE; not as "flashy" but definitely captured that similar feel of an "innocent" swept up into a world where she's little valued as much more than a "doll". I actually cringed a bit at the start, not realizing how young Priscilla was when she first met Elvis, but I liked they showed both people in this romance were both flawed but each had their good moments. Coppola definitely had the "softer" ELVIS movie (making it far more intimate than the total showboater ELVIS), but she made a "small" but heartfelt epic.

Yes, the could've really fixated on her dramatic looks in the movie far more, I've only seen a few of the film's scenes though. They really should've recreated her outfits exactly since Priscilla was advising the film, maybe she still has some of her 60s clothes. This is what the movie should've shown a lot more of, who she was, and her reactions to Elvis and the way she really lived, her passions, and how shevreally felt about her life. These things we really don't know. I mean tell us why Mike Stone was so exciting, tell us her thoughts about why he was so worth leaving Elvis for... If the movie doesn't showcase this stuff, then we'll still be anticipating those things in a future film.

You are young she is a liar with a not so innocent background, Lisa hated this movie because it is based on lies and slanders her father. Read "Child Bride" and the lovers Priscilla had before even meeting Elvis. She seduces a married man and friend of Elvis to get to him. After she marries Elvis at 21, they both have affairs. She runs off with Elvis married karate instructor and Elvis gives her everything she wants in the divorce. It's never enough. In 1977 near his death she demands money and puts a lien on Graceland. Elvis sells off his copywrites to meet her demands. She joins Scientology and put Lisa at 12 years old in Scientology. Lisa hated her, Priscilla controlled her life and money. In 2017 Lisa secretly changes her will, taking out Priscilla and putting in daughter Riley to control the estate. When Lisa dies in January, Her mother finds out about the will and sues her own Granddaughter for the estate. She calls in Scientologist John Travolta to mediate at the settlement. He gets her a million to drop the suit, and 100 grand a year as an advisor, and 1/9 of Elvis estate for her son by another Scientologist named Marco. She sat right there on Piers show and lied. She said she was with Lisa when Elvis died. LIE, she was in LA . Lisa was at Graceland and saw her dad lying on the bathroom floor, she rushes to the phone and calls Elvis girlfriend Linda Thompson, she screams "My Daddy is Dead". Why lie about something all Elvis fans know? Joe sends a plane to pick her up and when she finds out Elvis girlfriend is on the plane she won't ride on it. She is a fraud and a money grabbing liar, now worth 50 million from Elvis and his estate

The movie for me felt like little snippets of the book, but didn't go as FAR as the book did. Its a doozy of a read, and if true, she really had quite a life. Plus this movie shows his huge drug problem, and also how he he gets her hooked as a 14 year old!! Everyone should read the book in my opinion. I like Sofia Coppola but I think this Priscilla movie is a pass. There are parts that seem like they filmed it in the dark, Elvis muttered quite a bit and made me wish there were subtitles. Elvis and his people came from Mississippi and his entourage - granny, father, friends etc - had only the lightest southern accents which I found strange.

You people need to know the truth, read "Child Bride" the real story of not so innocent Priscilla, you see a lot of it is missing in this exwife's tale. She marries Elvis at 21, they both have affairs she eventually runs off with her married karate instructor, Elvis gives her everything she ask for in the divorce, It's never enough she hounds him for more money because the $75,000 a month isn't enough. In 1977 before he dies, she demands more money, she puts a lien on Graceland so Elvis sells his copywrites to meet her demands. She puts Lisa in the Church of Scientology when only 12, it drives a wedge between them. Priscilla hooks up with fellow scientologist Marco and soon has his son. they open Graceland together, and she supports them on her million a year salary, but he soon leaves, her. there is a reason Lisa didn't want Coppola doing this demonization of Elvis. She said it was vengeful and wrong. Priscilla and Coppola ignore her. Lisa changes her will secretly in 2017 taking out Priscilla and putting in daughter Riley. When she died in January, her mother finds out about the will and becomes livid. She sues her own granddaughter to get control of Elvis estate. She calls in Scientologist John Travolta to mediate for her. He gets her a million to drop the suit, 100 grand a year as advisor, and 1/9 of Elvis estate for her son by Marco. Beaulieu has been milking a marriage that only lasted 6 years on paper for decades now. She not only lies about just about everything, she also lies about why she does it (to "preserve and honor Elvis memory"). She was still on board of EPE when they approved dog collars and toilet paper with Elvis' likeness on it. Or approved Elvis Presley whiskey. How does that honor his legacy? Everybody who knows anything about Elvis knows he wasn't a big drinker and that both his parents had their issues with alcohol. Red West once said that Elvis would already get tipsy from smelling the cork of a wine bottle, LOL. He may have been addicted to prescription drugs, but he stayed away from alcohol. There are those, Elvis haters, who love to regurgitate falsehoods about Elvis that he "groomed Priscilla Beaulieu from age 14 on”. Some even go as far as stating he MARRIED her when she was 14, which is the biggest lie of all. They met in September 1959 in Germany when she was 14 and he 24. At this time, Elvis had a girlfriend back home, Anita Wood, whom he dated for several years and was only 2 years younger than Elvis. She was with his parents when Elvis was inducted into the army. In fact, Elvis' other girlfriends up to that point had always been around his own age, and some were even up to 6 years older than he was! So, no: he was not at all into underage girls (plural or otherwise). Beaulieu is a self-serving narcissist who knew what she was getting into when she first met Elvis at age 14. After all, she knew that Elvis had a longtime girlfriend back home in the US, yet spent time with several German frauleins in spite of that. Little "innocent" Beaulieu did not mind being another girl he cheated on his girlfriend with. Elvis returned to the US on March 1, 1960, while Beaulieu and her family remained in Germany. There she terrorized her mother and stepfather because she had only recently found out he was not her biological father. She played Elvis and Mr. and Mrs. Beaulieu against each other. She told untruths about her home situation begging Elvis to save her by letting her come over and she made family life in Germany for her parents and half-siblings hell. It was Beaulieu who pursued Elvis, sending him risqué photos of herself (condoned/facilitated by her parents!). In a 1973 interview with Ladies Home Journal, Beaulieu is quoted saying that her mother, Ann Iversen, said that knowing Elvis was “an opportunity of a lifetime”. Her mother and stepfather played a questionable role in the development of Beaulieu's long-distance "affair" with Elvis that reeks of ulterior motives. If they'd really been worried or incensed and believed that all the initiative came from Presley, they could have stopped it right then and there. Yet, they didn't; they played along. They first allowed her to visit Elvis in the US when she was 16. More than a year passed until her next visit at 17. Beaulieu did not move to Memphis until she was close to 18 when she moved in with Elvis' father Vernon and stepmother Dee. It is total nonsense that many claim that she "lived with Elvis since she was 14". BEAULIEU AND ELVIS WEREN'T EVEN ON THE SAME CONTINENT FOR THE BETTER PART OF 3 YEARS. During the years before their marriage, Elvis was away from Memphis a lot, making 3 movies a year in Hollywood or locations such as Hawaii and having multiple affairs with co-stars. Beaulieu knew this and could have left then, since they were not married yet, but of course, she stayed because the goal was to become Mrs. Presley. According to Beaulieu, Elvis had promised to marry her when she was 21. But as her birthday had come and gone and her 22nd birthday was approaching and Elvis still had not kept his word, Beaulieu, her parents, and the colonel (Tom Parker) visited Elvis on a movie set. The most logical thing that happened is that a threat was made that they would go public about Elvis "dating" a minor while in his twenties if he would not keep his promise to marry her. After all: Jerry Lee Lewis had gone through a scandal that people might be reminded of if the Beaulieus had gone public: Jerry Lee Lewis had married his 13-year-old cousin! Then everything escalated and a quick wedding ceremony was arranged on May 1, 1967 (23 days before Beaulieu's 22nd birthday) in Las Vegas. The whole ceremony took just 8 minutes followed by a press conference (listen to what the Memphis mafia guys say about them getting married at the 24:33 mark of kzread.info/dash/bejne/omyWzrGqe5yWgLA.html). You can hear what Elvis told about the wedding in the recording of the last phone conversation Red West had with him before he died "That wedding thing, that wedding thing. It was in there over and done with so quick. I didn't realize I was married." (kzread.info/dash/bejne/omyWzrGqe5yWgLA.html). Beaulieu soon became pregnant, but Elvis already wanted to divorce her. 9 months after the wedding, daughter Lisa Marie was born. Beaulieu and Elvis effectively lived their lives apart as early as 6 weeks after Lisa was born when Beaulieu began an affair with her dance instructor. During the taping of the 1968 Singer Special (later redubbed the 1968 Comeback Special) Elvis had an affair with Susan Henning, while Beaulieu attended some of the tapings with her lover (the dance instructor). By 1969, after Elvis had finished his movie contracts and had begun not only his residency at The International Hotel in Las Vegas, but also his touring around the USA, he was away from Memphis an average of 150 - 200 days a year. He bought a mansion for his family, at 144 Monovale Drive in Holmby Hills/California which became Beaulieu's residence while Elvis - in between tours - preferred to stay at his Hillcrest Rd, Beverly Hills house. Effectively their marriage was over in 1969 and they increasingly lived separate lives. They did try to get back closer together in 1970, for the sake of Lisa Marie, but that failed. By then, Beaulieu had started taking karate lessons at Ed Parker's karate studio and subsequently met Mike Stone, whom she'd first seen during a karate tournament in 1968, and soon began an affair with him. By late 1971, Beaulieu and Stone (who had left his pregnant wife and child) shared an apartment in Belmont Shore and gossip rags were beginning to pick up on the break-up between Beaulieu and Elvis. The separation was effective as of shortly before Elvis' 37th birthday, January 8, 1972. Elvis was livid and he moved on: started dating Linda Thompson in the summer of 1972. In August of 1972 a property settlement agreement was filed and he filed for divorce ON HIS 38TH BIRTHDAY, Jan. 8, 1973. The divorce was finalized on Oct. 9, 1973, FIFTY YEARS AGO THIS YEAR. Elvis had his attorneys add a special clause to their divorce decree stating she was not to use the name Presley for a career. In interviews between the divorce and Elvis' death, Beaulieu described him as a has-been loser, absent/bad father and husband and adamantly stated she wanted to be known as Priscilla Beaulieu, to be her own person and that she was not Elvis Presley's property. In a 1973 interview with Ladies Home Journal she literally stated that there was "no possibility of a reconciliation with Elvis". After his death, she claimed that they had agreed to get back together when he was 50 and she was 40 and that he was the love of her life. She also started claiming that she and Elvis remained friends until his death. That was another lie; just listen to what his cousin Billy Smith tells about that, or what his dad, Vernon, wrote about that in a letter that has been made public. Elvis did not mention this opportunist in his will AT ALL. Not as his ex-spouse, not as the mother/guardian of his only child Lisa Marie and certainly not by name. After the divorce, and after Mike Stone, Beaulieu had (live-in) relationships with Mike Edwards, Robert Kardashian, Terry O'Neill, Elie Ezerzer and Kirk Kerkorian. In 1984 she met Marco Garibaldi with whom she had a relationship for 21 years. They separated in 2006. Together they had a son, Navarone, in 1987. She never married Garibaldi, although she had a much longer relationship with him than she'd had with Elvis. It is extremely unfortunate that people believe all the fantasy tales Beaulieu tells. They gloss over the tons of inconsistencies that have arisen as time moved on and Beaulieu started changing her narrative, often contradicting supposed facts she told earlier. She's as glib as a used car salesperson because she can spin yarns like nobody, making those gullible people even believe her excuses for those contradictions. If you really believe Beaulieu and her family would have acted the same way and would have been equally tolerant of his behavior (extramarital affairs etc) if Elvis had remained a truck driver learning to be an electrician, you are beyond naive. The Beaulieus had dollar signs in their eyes when they pimped out their rebellious (step)daughter. Coppola purposely chose a girl the size of a pre-schooler to play Beaulieu and a 7 ft giant to play Elvis to accentuate the age difference in a visual way, too. The huge height difference subliminally makes people think "what is that adult doing with that child?" In real life, Elvis was 5'11" in bare feet and Beaulieu 5'2". Very cheap and disgusting methods, but certainly fitting for an equally disgusting subject for this "movie".

Elvis came to Germany a month after the death of his beloved mother Gladys. He was in deep mourning, terribly homesick for Memphis and terrified his career would be over when he got out of the Army. Priscilla has said many times that Elvis felt he could talk to her and that's all it was for him, someone from back home who he could confide in and that friendship ruined the rest of his life. There's not a true fan of Elvis' who can stand Priscilla.

I saw this film yesterday and my issues are very similar to yours. I wanted more. More dialogue, more story depth and detail, more character development, even a longer run time. I wanted to know more about Priscilla as a person and a grown woman. I wanted to see her after Elvis's death and how she raised her daughter and has been a guardian for his legacy all these years. When the movie cut to black I was confused. How could this be where her story ends?! I did love the look of this film. I do think something was lost in not being able to use Elvis's music. When it comes to Sofia Coppola's films, I prefer Marie Antoinette to Priscilla but this is a huge improvement over The Beguiled which I kind of hated.

That's because Priscilla herself has turned out to be a narcissistic liar and that film is untruthful. Elvis's daughter, had she lived would have spoken out against the Priscilla movie and fell out with her mother saying that she did not recognise the man portrayed in that film. E mails were exchanged between Lisa and Sofia and Lisa was upset and appalled at what her mother was willing to do to her father's reputation in order to satisfy her own ego and gain money and fame. This is her best movie in 20 years!? I mean yeah, she hasn't made a good movie in 20 years, The Beguiled was pretty tolerable but this movie, what a nonstarter. Literally nothing happened for 2 1/2 hours and then finally it was over. What is the point of even telling this story, that's been told so many times? Simply to tell it from the female perspective? But why? This film does not justify its own existence. Even the aesthetic was nothing special, I would've never guessed this was Sofia Coppola had I not known. I had no interest in this story whatsoever, even with her name attached until seeing this review, (although the trailer was very good, who directed that?) but alas, I've been mislead.
