Unless you need to print in color ALL THE TIME, you are MUCH better off getting a laser, and doing color prints occasionally at the drugstore or photo store etc. Laser printers don’t have cartridges that always dry out or get clogged.

Good advice and interactive as well. Some inkjets are actually cheaper than color lasers to operate.

I would assume that an average user can survive with black and white prints. I bought a refurbished Laser printer for $40 few years ago, and it still works like a charm. Also Laser printers are more reliable than ink jet.

I'm looking for a home office high volume ink jet printer that has the capability to (print double sided bordless) brochures on card stock paper. In addition a top feed document scan option will be neccessary too. Can anyone recommend a printer?

It's cheaper to own a laser print. I'll print picture at store like Walmart, Target, and drugs store.

this is only partially informative. Go back and do more checking. How about the cartridges you say could be refilled. The printers do not permit this in most cases. I expected better from consumer report

Ink jets are for dumb people who want to lose all their money. Get a color laser printer on Amazon for $100 and don't worry about ink or refills for 3+ years.

DJPelio ...then pay $400 for your black toner, cyan toner, yellow toner, magenta toner, and 4 drums.

Negative. I paid $50 for all 4 colors for my Brother laser printer. Don't need to buy any drums or anything. $50 color toner replacement that lasts 4 years is a good deal.
