You do not use regular ink. I'm sure the guy has bought a brand new printer and bought empty reusable ink cartridges, which are then filled with food colouring. This is what is done with printing onto icing sheets so chocolate transfer sheets shouldn't be too different. So when it prints an image, it's food safe.

When you print off edible pictures for chocolate bars, can you use a normal printer or does it have to be a edible printer?

edible printers actually are normal inkjet printers. the thing that has to be modified is the ink cartridge. if you buy a kit you'll end up with a canon or an epson, usually

John Haugeland yes and you can just buy a normal printer and put edible ink it in but it can never have been used for regular printer, that would make it toxic

You can print on tempered chocolate as well. Follow same procedure

U can use any printer but it should be a new one it shouldn't be used for printing papers before.

no, they are not using ink. they're using a printer filled with white chocolate containing food coloring.
