Well, it's a lot more/different work from the Zero Suit. Plus, the Zero Suit is more practical to transport, move in, not die of heatstroke in... So there are plenty of reasons why more people make the Zero Suit.

Love the outfit that she is wearing in this video, very appropriate.

I was looking to do a Slave Leia outfit myself for a con that was happening a week before my birthday this year. My boy toy jumped at the chance to help. In addition to your video we found a few helpful suggestions at the RPF. These Included making the skirt plates and side hoops into a belt. Then attach the skirt (front and back) to the plates with Velcro. That way if some one steps on my skirt while I'm walking, just that skirt falls off not the entire peace. As for panties in a nude color should work and fits the lore. Jabba liked little between him and his pets. We also made the bra so it was two peaces. One under bra that stays place and was made of a nude fabric to hide the straps. The Decorative frame/metal bra and slave collar where made so they could break away like my skirt. This was in case someone got handy or something got caught (like the chain). Last thing we did to make this unique was the Friday costume was BF dressed like Chewie while I was New Hope Leia holding a sign that read" On your Birthday, Party like a Wookie". Saturday Bf was still in the Chewie suit. But I had switched to the Slave Leia and the sign had "DO NOT" written in red over top Fridays message. Kind of a flip on the Return of the Jedi bit where Leia lead Chewie around on a collar and chain.

Thanks for the awesome tutorial. I'm in the middlebof making my costume right now but my skirt plates look a little more "rustic" than yours. After the worbla, I have longer and uneven edges. Seeing this makes me wonder why movies need such large budgets for their costumes (I know that's not where all of a movie's budget goes, but I think more than needed does go there) when you can achieve results like this at a fraction of the cost.

I was wondering how you'd make this anywhere near wearable, and this was super clever!

Maybe I missed something but I don't quite understand how you attached the elastic to the staples. The staples stick out initially right? When you first attach the staples the pointed ends point outward. So when you attach the elastic, are both points of each staple going through the elastic? If so, once you do that, are you then taking needle nose pliers to bend the pointed ends inward onto itself as a staple normally works, then cover the bent closed staples with worbla to prevent the pointed staples from cutting/scratching you?

Picked up some tips here for something I'm building. Great stuff :-)

My question is how do you handle the SIDE of the bra? I've never worked with worbla but is it really strong enough to hold the front together without any assist on the side?I know using the real bra underneath helps, but how well does it really stay in place? Carrie Fisher had to glue hers on, but hers was made from real metal, and new materials are fortunately much more wareable.
