The children of Queen Mary and King Frederik are certainly growing up fast! It seems like only yesterday we were watching their wedding. I couldn't be happier for them. Princess Isabella will be breaking many hearts soon enough. It's nice to see younger Royals stay and work for their Monarchy. If they get to follow passions of their own, it will inspire them to want to continue in this life and not run away like several had done. Alexandra, I'll be looking forward to ANZAC Day as always and maybe it could be helpful to explain what ANZAC stands for and how it began. It's a very special day for Australia and New Zealand to honour. I proudly wore a badge today that shows the flags of Australia and New Zealand joined by a poppy with - Lest We Forget written beneath. This day fills us with pride of how two nations with rather small populations joined together in fighting for our own countries and not being claimed as being British. We also honour those who both fought and lost their lives at Gallipoli in particular, as well as honouring all who have served to this day. Lest We Forget.🇦🇺❤🇳🇿

I remember exploring a number of old monasteries in Denmark from the 12 and 13th centuries pre reformation. The sense of history overwhelms you. Happy 17th birthday, Princess Isabella.

Quite a busy week ahead. As always Alexandera, your updates are informing with the pictures enhanching the experience. Like you and millions of others I love art. Prince Daniel's comment was like hitting the nail on the head. Good for him. I have canvasses and other art forms even in my kitchen, bathroom and laundry room.... Thank you Alexandra.

She and her father look so much like their mother/grandmother….. if you look at some of her grandmothers photographs when she was younger, the resemblance is quite marked. Happy 17th birthday Isabella.

LOL! I'm in the same boat as you, Gwen. On a side note, I'm interested in learning how to Weave. The Crown Princess of Norway recently hosted a Weaving symposium and this particular art/craft has sparked my interest. I hope that made sense. 🙂

Why is Margareth of Denmark still addressed as a Queen when she has abdicated and Mary is now known as Queen...Queen Beatrix abdicated and is now called Princess Beatrix...is there some kind of difference between the two monarchies

I was wondering the same thing. It is odd for there to be two queens. The former queen should at least go by Queen emerita, IMHO.

The Netherlands has a long history of abdicating monarchs; Denmark does not. Margarethe was the first Danish monarch to abdicate in 900 years. It was mutually decided to allow her to keep her titles more like a Queen Mother would instead of a Dutch abdicated queen.

Hi, Christine! 🙂 Regarding your question, each country with a monarchy works differently. Prior to the abdication, she was known as Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. After the abdication, she became Her Majesty Queen Margrethe of Denmark.
