This way of folding it is all over pinterest... It's how the sellers prepare the skirts for the pictures, but NO ONE will explain how it's done. Took me forever to find this video haha thank you so much!

This is genius, I'm going to tie in the back at the buttonhole and leave the short later open as a vest. Maybe use a real belt over the inside layer.

The warrior dress also works well for sizing down. Others may depend on where you are in the size range. It can take some experimenting!
