I will never forget the piercing eulogy her brother, Charles Spencer, delivered at Diana's funeral. It was filled with the respect and love he felt for his sister and the disdain he felt about the way she had been treated by the Royal family and in particular, Her Majesty. Those words remain in my memory. It was an unbelievable speech.

My dad migrated to USA from Mexico at the age of 16 and at his first job as a dishwasher, he remembered watching the royal wedding on the TV in the kitchen. He said he felt something special for Lady D (that’s how he calls her). When she died he was so sad, she impacted the world in many ways. So much so, that I was named after her and born about 6 months after her death.

@Poolie Hpool I didn't feel sympathy for her at first either but then watched a bunch of documentaries on her and was able to see things from her perspective and saw what she felt. No, she wasn't forced to marry Charles but it wasn't until after they had been engaged for quite some time that she found out about Camilla and realized Charles didn't actually love her. I think she thought about calling off the wedding but was afraid of letting not only The Royal Family down but all of England as well. I can't imagine the pressure she must have felt to please all of those people.

The one thing that the Monarchy never anticipated was how much Diana was loved by the people. No one cared about the Monarchy until Diana became apart of it. She was unlike any other royal. She was compassionate and caring. She was such a sharp contrast to what people had known about the Royals. At least one thing we know is that the queen couldn't deny that Diana was loved. Even if she didn't care for her, the people did and that's all that matterd.

A "symbol of purity"? She had at least one affair while still married so no, she was not "pure". She also was NOT "killed by a cruel world". I smiled throughout the entire funeral of my grandfather. Because when you organize an event and many people come, you are the one they seek out. You have to stand there and greet them and meet every one of them, listen to what they have to say and express your condolences to them, not the other way around. Because YOU are the person that makes sure the one who passed is seen off with dignity and if it is an event that is followed closely by the public eye, your grief does not matter as much as the impact the dead had one those that stayed behind. You make sure everything works, you smile and you allow yourself to be happy because there will be easier days to come.

I do think that when the queen arrived in London and saw by herself the mourning and all flowers at the gates she understood the magnitude of what was happening about Diana’s death. I’m pretty sure that day has changed her forever as well. The fact she bowed to Diana at the last end is the key proof of it. She did it with respect. In the end, Diana is Royal and it’s Queen with or without the title. Her funeral says it all.

I know I didn't know princess Diana but it can still bring tears to my eyes. Being a parent it's unimaginable thinking that your children will grow up without you and never get to be part of their future's. You don't get to be a grandparent. Especially at such a young age.

Diana was like a sister angel to every one, and no one touched out more like she did. She will be captured in our hearts for ever. Diana like myself was a 1961 year birth, split parents, and just I seem to have a lot in common with her. She was so loveable beyond belief. The public really LOVED Diana very very much, and made any one feel at ease and comfort, so kind too. R.I.P. True Princess, a sheer inspiration to the whole world forever eternally.

It means that up until that point, it had seemed like the public had completely turned against her. (The Queen, that is). When she was offered flowers for herself, she realized that people hadn't turned against her and were sympathetic to her because her grandchildren had lost someone important in their lives. She had thought she wouldn't receive anything but hostility and negativity, and those flowers were a way of the public saying, "We are glad you are here and sorry for your loss". It just meant that the hostility between the public and the palace was melting through that small act.

She is not important enough. Harry is 6th in line and will never be king. Diana was supposed to be the queen. Also she was a British noble the daughter of the 8th Earl Spencer. She built her reputation as a genuine philanthropist. She did stuff nobody had done before her and were considered taboo around the world ( touching and hugging HIV patients) Raising the land mine issue by actually walking through them. Megan is just plastic.
