Great video as usual. I find it amazing how people want to compare a free afternoon tea on a $60 pp per night cruise with a $50 afternoon tea at a $400 a night hotel. The only complaint that I had with the Regal Princess afternoon tea was that it was served piece by piece so you did not get to try everything ... And it was too close to dinner service. 😅

Yeah comparing free cruise ship afternoon tea to high-end hotel versions is not a fair one lol. We certainly enjoyed it, but didn't go every time they had it due to dinner coming up 1 1/2 hours after. Thanks for the comment JL! 😊

It was a large dining room, but yes certainly not full. A lot of people were talking so it's not super quiet, but it's a great place to enjoy some snacks, chat or just relax 🙂

How civilized! It’s always fun to sit at a table and have people bring tiny treats! We are going to have to give Princess a try! Thanks for the video!

On the first cruise I took with Princess, I heard passengers complain how this was not a proper afternoon tea. I’ve done teas in the past that seemed much more traditional. On the Majestic, afternoon tea was served using pastries and sandwiches found at the International Cafe. It wasn’t anything special. Didn’t do tea on board the Discovery, so I don’t know if my previous Princess Tea experience was what they normally do, or if it was an anomaly. I just remember a lot of complaints from passengers about tea that week 😆.

Thanks for sharing your perspective Scott! 🙂 It's true that afternoon tea experiences are different across cruise lines and even between ships. Princess might not always be the top pick for those seeking a super-formal tea experience, though it wasn't bad for a complimentary one.

Sorry Princess Cunard does a proper afternoon tea served in the Queens Room with gloved waitets finger sandwiches scones with clotted cream amd other treats usually with live music

For sure Cunard has a better one- a good sign of that is the crowd. During our QM2 voyage, Queen's Room is always jam-packed for afternoon tea.

Yes definitely- it's easy to get full 🙂 So you have to be kind of strategic in choosing what to eat.

Thank you very much! 😊 They didn't specifically say certain items were gluten-free, but probably one or two that were. The server will let you know or bring the gluten-free ones out from the back. The default was black tea, but you can ask for other tea or even coffee.

When I was on Regal last week I had my tea in the sanctuary. I think they only brought a few options and most of them were nothing special. I thought it would be at least as good in the sanctuary, but I see from this video that it was not.

I think the scones have gotten smaller over the years. I believe the English use their hands to separate the scone. No knife usage. Afternoon tea and high tea is not the same thing.

I love your legit responses. The Tea, overall, was underwhelming, imo.

Fun fact, high tea is when they serve hot food, meat/potatoes, etc. It is more just like a lunch. Afternoon tea is what you had. Also, scones are not supposed to be dry. It is only because in the US, they don't make them properly. Starbucks and Panera are not good representations of what scones should be.

On some Princess ships there is a fancier afternoon tea which does cost extra. But there is still a complimentary one on sea days at the main dining room.

Our son is actually the one who pushes us to go to it as he enjoys those snacks. He would drink milk instead of tea. So yeah if your kids like the food they saw in the video it could be an enjoyable event for them.

Scones should ALWAYS be accompanied by clotted cream, not whipped cream as in this video. This is basic.

If you are doing afternoon tea, do it correctly. Study how the Ritz Carlton and The Garden City Hotel present afternoon tea. I was disappointed in Princess’ tea

This looked pretty good to me. I’m Canadian and have only gone to afternoon teas at church at Christmas. Not all of us can afford the Ritz Carlton or Garden City Hotel.

omg really? you are complaining about a free service? if it isnt ' propa' enough for YOU then do us all a favor and dont participate.

That was the worst afternoon tea we experienced on Discovery Princess, nothing came together, everything was a wait. Yes you had to wait for milk and sugar to add to to your now cold cup of tea.

I have tried scones on every cruise line l have travelled on. We have travelled with NCL, Princess, Costa, Carnival and Royal Caribbean. None of them who had them have had a decent scone unfortunately. On a lighter note during our first ever cruise which happened to be on NCL, l had what l thought were scones. The Americans who saw me eating them with jam and cream were horrified. Turns out what l had were what they call "biscuits", meant to be eaten with gravy.

Can't compare with Cunard's afternoon Tea ! Sorry.
