I see that you, like many, are confused about Queen Elizabeth’s statement. Queen Consort IS Queen. Her Majesty The Queen. When the late Queen Elizabeth II said that it was her wish that Camilla be Queen consort, it was to put paid to the previously suggested idea of Princess consort. She didn’t mean “not Queen”. She knew, and presumed that her subjects knew, that a Queen consort IS a Queen. It is a different role than a Queen Regnant but QUEEN nonetheless. After all, her very own mother was a Queen consort who was titled as Queen during the reign of her husband (King George VI.) In addition, QEII's wish was just a blessing. Even if she wished to call Camilla "Mickey Mouse" it would have mattered not a jot. She had no power whatsoever to determine titles for a future King’s wife. By law, the wife of His Majesty The King is automatically Her Majesty The Queen. In order to deprive a King's wife of her rightful style/title of Her Majesty The Queen, it would take a literal act of Parliament with the approval of all 15 Realms as well. Barring action by Parliament, Camilla was destined to become Queen from the moment Charles slipped the ring on her finger.

These royals are only royal at the approval of the public. Camilla is Queen only in her mind because the public largely don't accept her as a queen. Diana was Grace, elegance and regal and was a queen in the public's acceptance of a queen. Charles is a needy man and needed a strong, bolshie woman, even one who didn't love him as anyone can see that he is not loved by Camilla, but she wasn't going to turn down such a prestigious position. She will never be queen in the true sense of the word.

Charles created the issue here. He is a needy man in his personality. Diana loved him when she accepted his proposal. Camilla was the true love of his life and he continued to have her in his life after he got Diana pregnant twice. This then gave him the feeling he did his part for the Monarchy and returned to Camilla. So she was the other woman in the marriage, that Diana announced.

If he dies first, she leaves Buckingham Palace to live elsewhere and is renamed the Dowager Queen. This is opposed to Queens Victoria and Elizabeth II who were in the line of Succession and were Queens Regnant. If their husband dies first, they continue in their position as Queen until their death. The words consort and regnant are descriptions and not part of the title. Camilla is Queen Camilla, her description is consort. The late Queen Elizabeth II was Queen Elizabeth, her description was regnant. The same would have applied to Diana and will apply to Catherine when William becomes King. Catherine will be a consort as well.

Please give it a rest, Diana and her marriage to Charles was all arranged by the RF and the Spencer family, not Charles choice at all. When the decision was made that Sarah wasn’t suitable Diana was put forward. A mistake maybe but not exactly the fault of either of C or D, and D was no angel as you blinded fans think. She never tried to participate in things C liked but went on with her own life.
