I hate that people think this is the full version of the song. There is no extended version, that is the FULL version.

Baby Girl...listen to Uncle Vinnie when I tell you. When this album dropped, the Purple Rain album, we went insane. It was summer 1984, I was 19 just finished my first year of college. My boys walked into the club doing that strut at the end of the video.

It was more than just an album a movie a tour. It was a movement I was only 10 years old in 84 but this record this ban this movie had me by my soul and wouldn’t let go.

This is my favorite Prince song by far, because of the lyricism and the pictures he paints with his words and tone. "Dream, *if you can* , a courtyard." - Instantly there's something magical afoot, he's inviting us to go with him into this other world. It's also the "act of volition" , if you do this, you're agreeing to the rest of the invocation.

I wish you would have reacted to the extended video version because he start hitting his high notes and start the screaming baby. Lol but great reaction. Glad that you liked it 💜

I had a poster of the second part of this video (Prince with the Revolution on the spiral stairs) when I was a teen. You can never hear enough Prince.

We ladies of the 80’s know!! Love your reaction. Never thought a guy wearing heels would be sexy but Prince baked that cake. He played all the instruments and wrote most of his songs. So talented

Prince had a way with rhythm, sound and music flow. Purple Rain was a great reflection of his love for music! You wanna hear an amazing song, listen to Batdance. It's such a great cacophony of sound, soul and music.

The companion song and video to “Bat Dance” is “Party Man”. Both are visually and musically a treat.

Cool reaction. He took the bass out of the record so u could feel like something was missing. Plus the record company wanted to make him a RnB artist. When u hear the longer version, he taught the keyboardist the synthesizer solo, played it real slow, then told him to speed it up. U gotta watch the Purple Rain movie w hubby so u see the songs in better context. Sent some Prince songs to your email so u could get variety. Enjoy.

Nah, he faded the bass because it was perfect without and most all tracks were performed on record by Prince as sole musician. The touring band did that version or a modified version for the live set. Prince produced his albums and look from the beginning. He was a true auteur that wrote and played and sang most everything. He often finished one if not more a day and his estate has a vault full of unreleased material, much like the prolific Frank Zappa.

@@Swonder1972 I know. I'm a fan. He s on record saying he took the bass out of the record intentionally, as band members confirmed. Playing live was a different story

@marcusmccormick8399 Yes, he faded the bass in the final mix because it was not needed. He said, "they not gonna believe this," meaning the public. It was the recording engineer that quoted him, not the band. They were given the song after.
