The Purple Rain movie gained popularity because of the mega-selling soundtrack in '84. The original movie storyline was viewed as more B-movie fare for the time, but the songs on the Purple Rain album ignited the World to Prince music. He was in the stratosphere after that for the rest of his days. Prince made the colour purple cool, and he made individual creativity a lasting inspiration of the American dream for so many thereafter.

I am old so was a teen when this came out and saw it in the cinema then. Didn’t know some was filmed in LA! I went to Minneapolis back in 1992 and went to the Glam Slam, thenightclub Prince then owned.

@tablaqueen I'm from Minneapolis originally, then an LA native for 33 years. There were MTA city buses in the movie, so I knew parts were filmed in Los Angeles.

Juliana, they have done a vlog on Paisley Park. I've watched it. Some of prince's outfits are on display. I expected Prince to appear, but that will never be sadly. He was awesome. Im from England, and would love to see what Chanhassen looks like. Hoped i helped you there.

I wish my BF was still alive to see this vlog..he would have loved it! Amy had my giggling when she walked down the steps sideways holding her jacket like Morris Day! lol
