    I actually really liked Prince Philip. I felt so sorry for Queen Elizabeth when I saw her grieving alone. If it was my grandmother I would have broken Covid 19 restrictions and given her a huge hug. That was not fair. I did actually break the covid rules here in New Zealand. My grandfather had a heartattack and was rushed to hospital. He begged the nurses to let me see him and I remember taking off my gloves and holding his hand in reassurance. That and I vowed to my Nanna that I would look after him, when she had passed which was in 2017.

    My Dad is 81. He was born in Gloucester in 1941. He didn’t know his father as his father didn’t return to the family after the war but rather just took up in London. As I have watched this it has occurred to me that one of my Dad’s role models would have been Phillip. So many similarities it’s eerie; down to quiting smoking immediacy with will power. He moved to Canada with my Mum in 63…. My mum who was the Queen of our household … and he was my leader in the Boy Scouts where we learned about doing service. Phillip became the perfect Englishman. Fantastic and inspiring biography.

    Great Historians/commentators!! I was captivated for the entire video, couldn't stop watching, stayed for the duration. Prince Philip was a very interesting man. And I can't help but admire his thinking, I agree on alot of what he said. I can tell that Philip definately was a thinker! And I can relate to some of his traits; I am good in a crisis situation, and I can be a good problem solver, like Prince Philip must have been. My daughter complimented Philip, saying that he was probably Queen Elizabeth's "voice of reason", so some people might have felt threatened by him, because I have a feeling that when Philip was still alive, that there wasn't much that escaped his notice, and that he could quickly see through BS. (And I bet that he didn't tolerate it). If I may be so bold to say, that maybe the Queen might have become vulnerable after Prince Philip's passing? And, I say this with my whole heart, I feel like things began to unravel after his death. **** Prince Philip was a Gemini, and I recognise the traits in him, like my Gemini traits; a thinker, a planner, a problem solver, good in a crisis, multi-tasking, restless, always seeking new experiences, needs to have choices and variety, not the same thing all the time, and likes to be intellectually stimulated. 🤓

    I just have to comment again and say how much integrity Prince Philip had, and the fact even though he was born into wealth and privilege he still had a hard life growing up without he mother and father. I maybe an American and not allowed to pledge my allegiance to any monarch, but God Bless the Queen, the British Royal Family. I miss the Queen, anytime I think of her I become sad that she is not with us anymore, then I think of all the beautiful memories I have of her and I return to happiness. I would like to say also, God Bless King Charles, I believe he was berated by the British media, where as I think he has love in his heart. Love for his people and for the planet, no matter the Government you know that King Charles loves preservation of our mother earth. May I also say God Bless Prince William & Princess Catherine, I hope to be alive and well when I see his coronation. I know just as I feel, many Americans may not have pledged allegiances to the British Monarchy, but I know just like me we would protect the British Royal family even it meant our own deaths.

    I’ve been fascinated by Princess Alice since I first read a reference to her years ago in a book I was reading, and I immediately found a biography of her and was really stunned at the hardships she had suffered, even being put in a mental hospital against her will by her own mother. Even though Alice was pretty much deaf, she spoke several languages in a normal voice, which is quite an accomplishment. Princess, and later Queen, Alexandra, was also nearly deaf, so it ran in the family. And, of course, I laughed when I saw Prince Philip’s father, bc I learned where Charles got his ears!

    I really enjoyed this documentary. He was such a crucial part of Queen Elizabeth’s reign that’s not often talked about. He seemed really fun to be around, and lived a very eventful life. It’s sad that his sense of humor was always getting twisted by the press b/c his type of personality is a good addition in politics. Good for him for staying true to himself and never being afraid to speak his mind.

    If all the foreigners who marry into the RF could behave like Prince Phillip. I think The Wales’ will have a much easier time ascending the throne because Catherine naturally walks beside and at times behind William and there won’t be the pressure HMTQ and Prince Phillip had on their marriage when she became Queen.

  • @angelmeij9026
    @angelmeij90269 ай бұрын

    If I remember correctly it was Philip who said that when you are a member of the RF and you are representing the crown as prince, princess, queen or king for the citizens it is not about you but the institution you are representing. So if you are marrying into the RF and think the people you meet are there to see you personally and to applaud you as a person you will be disappointed and will feel miserable. (Prince Philip didn't say it word for word the way I just did in my comment but the English language is not my native language so for me a bit too difficult to remember and write exactly what he said). And that's the advice Meghan didn't want to listen to.

    He was interested and curious throughout his life. Very good looking, intelligent and an original in his approach to the world the monarchy and his children and grandchildren he truly gave up his carrier to stand by the Queen. It's is a tragedy that Charles has non of his qualities and is a user in every sense of the word. If the monarchy survives the next 20 years and is handed down to William in due course we have to hope that he grows a backbone.

The maggots aren't gutsy people like they want you to think, they're are cowards. OR they wouldn't have done prince Philip, the queen and the rest of the royal family. Like they have done. On the contrary, King Charles has many of his father's qualities. Perhaps not as obvious as his sisters for sure. However, Prince Philip was a man of his generation that of the silent generation. It makes sense that Charles may be viewed as spoilt. wouldn't you if you'd spent 70 years as a king in waiting? Charles has his mother's sense of duty and his father's courage. I wish KC the very best.

    Good documentary . Prince Philip was a man of strength and principles . Throughout his whole life he supported his wife , his family and his country . No wonder those stuffed suits and old men in the palace didn't like him but he just ignored that . He loved his wife and gave her confidence to do exactly as she had sworn to do . I'm sure history will admire him as I did . Every time you saw Queen Elizabeth look at him it was obvious she adored him .

    Lord Mountbatten was Princess Alice's brother (Prince Philip's mother). Edwina Mountbatten was an EXTREMELY wealthy woman and as such she heavily financed and contributed to the welfare of Princess Alice throughout the years of her marriage to Louis Mountbatten. Other family members especially Alice's mother Princess Victoria of Hess (Victoria's mother was Princess Alice, Queen Victoria's daughter) also helped. Most of Prince Philip's naval checks were given to his mother, and many years after his marriage to Queen Elizabeth II was when he was able to fully finance Princess Alice. The Windsor and Mountbatten dynastic names did not cause Philip to be "furious" at his uncle Louis Mountbatten and their relationship remained the same as it always was. Proof was the relationship between Prince Charles and Lord Mountbatten.

He went out of all our lives: the Queen's, Princess Anne's, mine, the UK's, Canada's and we could never be as we were. A big chunk of stability was gone. He was a man.
