The video for Prince’s hit “Guitar” was filmed for use in commercials leading up to the release of his 2007 album Planet Earth. The song “Guitar” was first teased on Prince’s website, 3121.com, around the time that he performed his historic Super Bowl Halftime Show in February 2007, and a new version of the single was released through Verizon Wireless shortly before he dropped the album on July 15, 2007. Planet Earth made history as the first album to be distributed to the public in copies of a newspaper, Mail on Sunday, in the U.K. and Ireland.
Although the song “Guitar” became well-known after its release - it became a staple of Prince’s live performances long after the release of Planet Earth - the full video for the song has been rarely seen until now. It was briefly offered as a download on Prince’s website, 3RDEYEGIRL.com, in 2013, around the time that he was beginning to perform with his hard-rocking trio 3RDEYEGIRL.
The video stars Prince, the drummer Cora Coleman-Dunham, bassist Josh Dunham, keyboardist Morris Hayes, and dancers Maya and Nandy McClean, also known as “The Twinz.”

This track was included on the Planet Earth disc distributed by the English rag the Daily Mail by in 2007. The Planet Earth single is also awesome and should have done better. Truth is by the mid noughties the big record companies were pretty much done with Prince and viewed him as old hat from a previous generation... Such a pity as he had much more to offer.....

Prince's cover version of "Crimson and Clover, " is pure electric, mesmerizing, genuine and phenomenal. He stayed true to the song; but, with his own Soul/Rock/Jazz/Funk style. It was generous of him to feature the history-making African-American ballerina, Misty Copeland, as his "leading" lady in this psychadelic - celestial video.

Sometimes in his last tour (Piano & a Microphone) he would slip up and forget lyrics here and there… but of course he was a master at performing and improvisation. And he was Prince so we forgave him lol i think they said during those shows, he had a tablet on the piano and he would scroll through the lyrics. He's a legend. The guy was a genius!
I'm very grateful to see and hear anything that he's put out that I either didn't have access to and especially the stuff that he had no solid intentions of releasing. Since all of this stuff started popping up, i've followed everything i could find and i'm seeing so much more of his talent; parts that a lot of his official commercial releases would show parts of but not in total. So much more guitar work over the years. I really really hope that there's a huge stack of him on bass or drums somewhere in the future. Though I don't "feel" everything that's being put out now, I'm still really happy to see it.As he had said in a few interviews in the past, this is his legacy, this is what he had left for us in later times. Literally an enormous time capsule of multimedia for us to enjoy later. There just couldn't have ever been enough time for just one man to clean up,package and release to us. He had spent much effort on refusing to acknowledge time and its advances on our mortality and yet time came for its due and with interest. This is why so many of us saw him as being so ageless; His outer look he presented to us, the much younger crowd of musicians not only kept his music evolving with the times, but also allowed him to seem almost like hes one of them and not a man whos been playing music professionally since 1978. I still have difficulty grasping his passing. I never got to see him live and the only stuff i got to hear by him that wasn't an official release was a few bootlegs i got in NY back in 02. Still, I can picture how quiet and in some parts of it, quite lonely it must have been in that enormous place. all of those rooms with a different look and theme in each one: One is almost grotesque in its opulence and yet looks like it hadn't been inhabited in years. Simple, tiny rooms the size or a regular basement bedroom that contained a few tables, makeup and hair care items and a bed with piles of blankets and a well crafted mattress that I'm certain is where he actually slept. Dark room with no windows. How could any human being, a social and community based species to begin with, not begin to fray at the edges little by little in such a place with no other permanent resident but one man who although had friends and fans all over the world. A rockstar, actor, producer philanthropist and not least of all, musical prodigy. And he died alone like that with no one to say goodbye to him or hold his hand. Its beyond tragic in my opinion. I do believe he will be missed for many many years to come.I just hope that his final home and personal wonderland isnt ran through, gutted of all of its priceless treasures and artifacts and eventually left to sit and decay like just another shrine to a slowly forgotten king. Missed indeed.
Yes yes yes Prince
