Prince absolutely owned this, he made it his version of Creep. Felt like he turned this into almost a 70's rock version of the song, your reaction to wanting to hear him to sing the actual lyrics for the chorus made me laugh so much lol. I'm a huge Prince & Radiohead fan so this performance was a literal dream for me & my parents when we found this because Radiohead & Prince are worshipped in my house. This is why i get upset i'm young becasue i would've went insane if i was there. Prince also has literally too many voices, he can literally sound like so many people not only with his voice but his instruments. I also felt Prince channelled the spirit of Jimi Hendrix with his guitar here. Please react to Prince "Beautiful Night sign o the times concert" live. 🤗
Prince had more confidence than anyone I've ever seen. I doubt he ever thought of himself as weird. Prince was popular because he's a genius but also because he's a complete badass and was always the coolest man in the room. Didn't matter whose company he was in.

I agree, nothing about Prince was weird. If most would have had one conversation with him they wouldn't even make that statement. People who knew him never said that, before during and after. EVER.

Prince flipped the words to call the other person a creep. I didn't notice that when I first heard it.
Prince gave what he wanted and not what you needed….always like that!

Actually sometimes he gave us both...the true gemini that he was. Forever in our lives!!!! The purple Yoda Lives!
Love it….he knows great hooks. The man IS music
Prince has some of the best emotional, screaming vocals ever!!! If you want more along those lines I recommend… “Motherless Child” - a very emotional cover of an old spiritual kzread.info/dash/bejne/dpuNupORgLPIkto.htmlsi=HRabXK-hbLsXKUz8 “Forever in My Life” from the Sign O the Times concert film kzread.info/dash/bejne/imZ4ssqNibGYmrA.htmlsi=dlJZ_5c3SmyzgPo8 The performance of “Purple Rain” from the 1985 American Music Awards kzread.info/dash/bejne/iJZ52Jp8aabMlpM.htmlsi=6KSCFecXN1_0ZXSv “The Beautiful Ones” from the George Lopez show (or you could check out the clip of this song from the movie Purple Rain) kzread.info/dash/bejne/nWmjyK2veaq5eMY.htmlsi=9E5V3fIQQH5GuVpW They are all emotional performances with some of those legendary screams. 💜💜💜
The greatest to ever do it
It is Dope he actually never said the word.
Creep? Yeah right.. Listen closely, he switched the concept of the song around. He is singing that you're the creep and he's the object of your obsession. Prince goes to Coachella and calls everyone creeps. When you can kill TWO guitar solo like that, he's kinda is right. He is on a whole other plain.
I long for a better video of this amazing performance. Magical.💜
I had no idea this existed. Amazing 🥹
If you like that vocal texture...other Prince songs you might appreciate are "Loose," "The Beautiful Ones," "Chaos and Disorder," and "My Name is Prince" (more of a rap than a rock-tinged vocal). Two live performances with videos you might consider reacting to are Prince's 1985 live performance of "America," and his live performance of "The Cross" (1987-88). And yes, Prince was considered "weird". He owned it and it made him and his music truly unique. 💜
No matter who does it, my favorite part is always the crunchy guitar. As long as that's there, I'm happy.
I think this is SPECIAL!!
You obviously don't have any knowledge about Prince, he would NEVER call himself or anyone else a creep. Nothing weird about Prince,, he was a real brotha and he made this song his own.
The World and his wife have covered this song. Should Brad ever decide to sing for us, this is what I wanna hear ...
I was there, at Coechella that year.
Dude , F the vocals ... His vocals are the guitar

@@phunkidruma yep Millennials don’t get it🤣
❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
I think he actually “flips” the perspective so the other person (not the vocalist) is the “creep” but then he reassures the listener that “I think you’re special.” In other words, anyone feeling like the protagonist in the original version should understand that it’s natural, but unnecessary, to feel that way. Oh, and, that guitar is just sick, especially the last solo.
OMG this dude had me laughing 2 hard 😢 he was anticipating hard 😅
😂 your best reation video ever!
I’m a big Prince fan & this was a song i kept waiting for him to cover. When he did, i didn’t understand it. He flipped the lyrics. “I float like a feather..”, “you wish you were special.” I still don’t get it. The point of the song is of someone who feels unworthy of the person they adore. He sang it from the point of view of being adored and it just never set right. Great performance, as always, but it feels like an exercise in narcissism with the lyrical flip.
Hey Brad. Where in the devil did you get that t-shirt from. Is it that colour or is it just the lighting. I want one 🔥
it might help actually knowing the words and music before attempting to cover a song. 🤣

Some artists don’t cover songs word for word, note for note 🥴

Prince thought covers were pointless if they were just trying to sound like the original. And he was definitely the kind of person to call himself out if he didn’t actually know the words, but that wasn’t the case here. He has too much self-respect to call himself a creep, but he was able to covey the same emotion regardless. On the not knowing the words tip, there’s a performance from 12/31/87 at Paisley Park when he covers Auld Lang Syne for NYE. And he literally only knows the first line. And the 2nd or 3rd time it comes around, he sings that one line and then says, “I know that part.” 😂

Do you really think Prince didn't know the words?? Get real, Prince knew everything when it came to music. This was the way he chose to sing it. Better than Radiohead's original.
@Brad After Dark & twimc: Prince absolutely called himself weird! Weird in his/our way is good! & Agree the Creep part could be hard, but as far as this song goes, totally not meant in a bad way. Ayways. Prince was unique & owned it! Vocally he could have done sooo much better. Especially after the great way he portrayed the music. Cutting the best part was a huge mistake. No matter; Still & always will love him as many agree❣️

@chica4530 You so know i did say- musically he owned it. Yer; No denying vocally he was off at points. He would've admitted that. Power & passion was there at moments as he mostly was on point. Yet whatevee reaaons, he dropped off, thus not his usual 100%. I can hear it as shoulda been & wish it was, but it wasn't. Yet again i shall mention the orcastrated genius of his own rendition was way better than Radiohead for sure.
This reviewers disappointment is so satisfying
Great version all the same.
Where is your wife? Did you kick her off the show. You two worked perfectly together. What happened?
Dang,I was ready to something other than this. Why did he even bother??
Prince would never have called himself weird or a creep. Besides you already know the original song, why repeat the same song that someone else did… he made it his way and IMHO it’s perfect.

@@hmpz36911 Prince NEVER called himself weird because he wasn't. Many interviews out there when people asked him that dumb question and he let them know it made was ridiculous. People who knew him will tell you he wasn't weird just serious about his music.

@chica4530 Fact: He said he was a weirdo thus different & liked it & anyone who was weird & different should be proud! Shortly after the Purple Rain release. "I like being weird" & other slogan pins similar were selling out at our school store because of that interview. So, if he changed up something later to the contrary, it doesn't change the fact that it was said.it gave a lot of kids boosts to their esteem. Helped turn what was a put down into a positive thing waa great! One of the things we loved about Prince.

@@hmpz36911 hmmm….Prince was famously asked during his 1996/97 Oprah interview if he considered himself weird, and that people called him weird. He replied by questioning the definition of weird…He said to him, he didn’t consider himself weird, but acknowledged that he was different. I don’t remember any Prince (official) pins or slogans that promoted him as weird, but it doesn’t really matter, being unique and being true to yourself is always a good thing in my opinion. :)

@tracyface69 i said they were slogan pins. Never said official or unofficial Prince pins. Although some did customize pins, but regardless twas over a decade earlier & a different time, life & circumstances then. From idiots continuously using it in a derogatory manner, saying quweird & then many professional & personal issues, especially the loss of his child affected hum greatly. So surely at that later time he was not as easy going, willing to joke as he use to. Yet to me & obviously others who remember Prince & others killing the harsh use of the word, turning it into a fun unique term which many followed with a thank you. Taking the power away from hurtful words & helping esteem is a great thing. I am glad he once was able to do so & wish all the horrible people would stop harasment of Prince & other amazing individuals ~
Prince was not weird. He was so far ahead of the pack you either catch up or you don't. Think of your favorite artist and his musical output....now that shit is weird KANYE DRAKE PHARELL!!!
As a Prince fan for more than 40 years, I have no qualms in saying that he screwed it up here. This something quite unusual in a legend like him, but even gods fail from time to time.

@@tracynorman1455 I know he made all the covers the way he felt them and the way he wanted them to be. I don't know a word about that story you are telling, I don't even know if it's true or not, but either way this version still sucks to me. There are weird things about who had the right to keep the song on KZread or delete it. That sound very absurd if you just pay a little attention. First it would have to be investigated at what point in time it happened and if Prince allowed it, because he was against music in Internet the 0,0 royalties for the artists: he said the only ones making money were Google and Apple. In what you are saying there are TWO legal rights involved: Prince and Radiohead. One party can't force the other: Radiohead may have the rights to the song (which Prince paid for as he always did) but Prince has rights over the version, over HIS IMAGE AND over HIS TALENT. Neither is above the other. CRITICAL: Even less so if it's an illegal recording of a concert and also because the song is not totally owned by Radiohead as they had to acknowledge The Hollies as composers... Later came the soporific ‘thing’ by Lana del Dead.

@@chica4530 you are wrong with the reasons that Prince had. In his words: " Don't get fooled about the Internet. It looks cool to get on the computer but don't let the computer get on you" (in 1999 speech"). Another "Internet is like MTV". He was extremely overprotective with his works and his rights on his works. KZread didn't pay the artists for their music and later YT paid misery! PS: though Radiohead's "Creep" is quite simple and they hated the song a lot (they really hated so much that they played it live a few times per year*), Prince's version is even simpler and empty. Sorry, that's my opinion of years listening to the greatest artists (a lot of them from jazz) and decades being a Prince fan. (*) If I'm not wrong, the year of this gig was 2008. That year Radiohead don't toured but they played "Creep" FOUR TIMES in 2006 and EIGHT TIMES in 2009. Hard to believe any good word about their song.
