Prince Charles tells BBC his Aston Martin runs on wine and cheese - BBC News

The Prince of Wales says he understands why campaigners from organisations like Extinction Rebellion take to the streets to demand action on climate change.
But, Prince Charles said actions like blocking roads "isn't helpful".
Speaking in the gardens of his house  on the Balmoral estate in Aberdeenshire, the prince said it had taken too long for the world to wake up to the risks of climate change.
He said he worried world leaders could "just talk" when they meet in Glasgow in November for a crucial UN climate conference.
Challenged about his own efforts to reduce his carbon footprint, Prince Charles said he had converted his favourite vehicle, an Aston Martin he has owned for 51 years, to run on what he described as "surplus English white wine and whey from the cheese process".

I heard the King criticized for being "sensitive." We need sensitivity, we need to quiet...I am such a talker, but to learn to listen longer and deeper is one of my greatest ambitions. When he said the river provided a lovely sound from the house....wow! That is such a statement.

Why would His Majesty be the only one to give up his wealth? It is not his fault he has inherited lands, stature and wealth from his ancestors. If he is to give up whatever wealth he has, so should the other billionaires and millionaires in England. Problem with some of our people, people have grown lazy and envious. A lot of people gave grown their own vegetations in pots, backyards, vacant lots and shared it in their communities. Its not like our king just keeps whatever he has for himself. How many billions have their families generated throughout the years for charities etc? How many families including farmers have they helped even gave homes to? Our royals have done their share of assistance etc. Our own govt should be doing their jobs better than just increasing taxes whenever they feel necessary.

Good Sir, if I may, there is little precedent for the monarch to express political opinion. The last monarch to do so who exercised the Royal Prerogative as it's known, was Queen Anne so at the very beginning of the 18th Century. In the UK and indeed throughout the Commonwealth, there is an understanding that this is the power balance we've developed and are content with. It's not perfect but one keeps the other in balance you see. And there's a reason the last time a monarch got political was a very long time ago - it nearly toppled the monarchy again. Certainly our King is a most sensible monarch and will I'm sure hold the latest PM to account quite assiduously on matters concerning the ongoing survival of our species. I trust this helps.

I feel like most people who dislike Charles (or the crown) either only think about what happened with Diana, or have a fundamental misunderstanding of how the British monarchy works and DOESN’T work, what they’re responsible for and NOT responsible for, and where they can intervene and CERTAINLY CAN NOT intervene. The monarchy is a symbol of Britain, yes. The government looks to them for “approval”, yes. But if they were ever to use what little real power they have to actually disapprove, the nation would be furious and it would set a precedent that would forever sew distrust in the real governing system that Britain has, and would probably result in a full overthrow of the monarchy, leaving Britain with a major identity crisis. In fact that’s exactly what has been threatened EVERY SINGLE TIME the Queen has gone against the people’s wishes in any small way. They have power, but they’re not allowed to use it, even if it’s to do the right thing. They’re Queens and Princes with knives to their throats. Truth is, the British government is much more comparable to the American government, in the sense that the people responsible for things that happened 50 or 60 years ago aren’t necessarily in power (or even still alive!) today.

He’s had the luxury to focus on the bigger picture & yet still won’t call out the politicians & business in his commonwealth and the greater world in general . He ignores so much nuance of how we have come to this crisis , and yet still won’t get political . He’s living on tax payers money & will ensure his family and their endless families continue to live with the same comfort of privilege & choice . If he was prepared to step aside from the throne and get seriously and actively political about his beliefs then perhaps he would look more convincing . Not sure if that is actually happening though. We just got a free trade deal with New Zealand, and while I love New Zealand it's on the other side of the planet, so that costs a lot of carbon to ship stuff from there.
