The Swedish royals are my favorite. I like that they are so open to the public. It's a lovely gesture to allow cameras to their events. I think the presentation of their wedding cake is delightful!

That is quite a wedding cake. I have never see another like it. Beautiful!

It is like a bunt. The things in the center are not edible,those are center pieces used as decorations and the cake stands they are displayed on was just a regular one.Nothing spells extra.

The pieces in the center are flowers made from spun sugar. The cake is a raspberry, pistachio, and rhubarb mousse. Prince Carl Phlip also requested Pop Rocks to be in the mousse to give it crunch.

The cake is a raspberry, pistachio, and rhubarb mousse. HRH Prince Carl Philip also wanted Pop Rocks in the mousse to give it a crunch. In the center above cake is a flower made from spun sugar.

The cake actually contains the american candy pop rocks, on the prince request.

That is one dashing, forward-looking couple…. and a spectacular wedding cake! :D Even as a German I have to say, way out of the English royals league who often get hyped to the clouds and back for no obvious reason!

Not enamored with the cake design, but what a great tradition having such a cake cutting/eating ceremony. I esp like that the cake chefs were there front and center. Would this have taken place after a reception and dinner, and before the dance?

@@almarivernight6485 Pop Rocks were the secret ingredient in the wedding cake for Prince Carl Phlip and Princess Sofia of Sweden. The cake has a white shiny glazed exterior of white chocolate and consists of six layers that contain Bavarian rhubarb, pistachio and yogurt mousse, raspberries and rhubarb icing, pistachio joconde (almond-flavored sponge cake) and strawberry panna cotta. Pop Rocks were added for crunch. Fifteen of these identical cakes were placed on a spiral-shaped stand in polished aluminum. Every single cake was adorned with garnish in caramel that spread a glow with the help of a light installation. A duck crown of caramel (pulled sugar) in molten gold and blue thrones in the middle of the stand.

Prince Carl Philip made the first cut with his sword. Then the chef/baker makes the additional cuts into slices and serves them to the couple.

Au mariage des princesses Victoria et de Madeleine le roi etait tout souriant. Mais pour le mariage de la joueuse Paradise Hotel (bimbo) avec son fils, il est de mauvaise humeur. Et il etait pareil lors de leurs fiancailles.

A bit of a letdown seeing her feed herself the cake instead of feeding the first bite to her husband. But what can be expected...

Gabriel21733 Maybe she was nervous and forgot. She seems to be looking to him for guidance. He could have indicated for her to give it to him or perhaps she was nervous of having him feed her in case some fell on her dress

I didnt see it as a let down. I saw it as a taste test in front of the chefs to ensure the guests and the bride and groom were getting what they deserved. It is a royal wedding after all.

That was foul most horrid as he followed suit and took a big hunk for himself .brabrabrabrahahahaha. Come now,seriously..the etiquette manual went sideways.
