@@T-roccBABY That's the thing though, either Burton was outright insane when he made it, or he wanted to make it like Nightmare before Christmas but they told him it wasn't suitable for kids or something, so he tried to have it both ways and ended up with Johnny Depp in a top hat speaking like Bill Clinton on bath salts

As for Grandpa Joe... he was never heard from again." Great cover, I've never heard anything like it before. It's so strange, but it's awesome because of that.

I think there is way more going on on this album than most people are opening up to realize. The first time I listened to it I wasn’t taken in immediately, but there was definitely enough to make me listen too again and again, just like most of my favorite records, they take few listens. I think the Fungi Ensamble are a great dimension to Primus. I think the production, the vocals, the percussion, the haunting bass tones and the minimal LaLonde (Gilmoresque/Magic Band) guitar solo’s are all deadly. I love the creepy, dark, obscure and funny subject matter. I think it’s one of the most adventurous and coolest records I’ve heard in ages. I’m attracted. I think Primus are on to something wonderful, again, but different. One tiny winchy little issue I might have is the Oompa Loompa’s, I think that they are positioned too close to each other, but apart from that I think it’s definitely one of the best records around at the moment. Cheers Primus.

My guess is that anyone who deems this as "shit" is no older than 13 - 15. Which makes them angry kids on the internet. Why? Because you obviously don't sense the amazing parallels to the chocolate factory as a whole. It's creepy, it's trippy, it's somewhat cheerful.. it's all there perfectly punctuated. That being said, it's definitely not primus' best. Or Claypool for that matter.

Rev0lutionIsMyName Then you must not know Buckethead because he is OBSESSED with stuff like Willy Wonka and has done songs inspired by it before. Hell, when waiting for him to come on stage during a show he plays weird sound clips and one of them is Willy Wonka clips.

He wouldn't fit. This is not his spot. While I love his work, this would not be his place. He would have tried to speed it up. If anyone would be even a part it would have maybe, and it's a big maybe. Trey anasasia of Phish. I'm sure I spelled that wrong. End of day, I respect the fact that Les decided to do this with Primus. Good call. Could he have made I wild with the frog brigade sure. But let the man do his work.

Ok, this is about as primus as it gets, so if you didn't like ALLL the other strange avant garde songs from their other albums, you're not going to like this one, sorry. I like this, personally, Though the whole Charley and The Chocolate Factory has been done before, also with pointing out the creepy aspect. The beginning seems vary avant garde to me, or maybe just claypool, its hard for me to tell some times, but the jam at the end is vary tite and tasty.

***** I never said you were bro, but the comment section is vary clearly split of people love it, or hate it, and to me, this is Primus, just as they have been for the last 20 something years, so people bitching about it being too weird seems dumb to me, but thanks for your history anyway.

To me, Primus is a "love or meh" band with songs that are completely unmemorable (or devolve into randomness) and songs that are just totally awesome. Thankfully, this cover is awesome. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

vanishy0urself I agree with you, however this is one of those sounds I would say is completely forgettable and not that good. I didn't like Green Naugahyde either, whereas I liked pretty much most songs on all the other albums. Les hates The Brown Album, and I'd say that one was even pretty good overall. It was certainly no Green Naugahyde. Thankfully.

Willy Wonka wasn't sunshine and rainbows. By a long shot. It was a movie about a hermit trying to live outside. About poverty and vile people. Gene Wilder himself was a little strange. I believe this is the perfect nod to him.

for all the people bitching about how this dosent sound like classic primus; i have some news for you, its 90's primus anymore. this album is primus and the fungi enssemble. on top of that the entire album is covers of danny elfman songs, so it shouldnt have that classic primus vibe since its not there music. and dont worry they still play there classic songs at the live shows.

whoops my bad, i was high when i wrote that. my point being is all the songs are covers and not actually by primus. and the music in the crappy remake is the same music as the 71, overed by danny elfman.
