PRIMITIVE BLACKSMITH | Forging iron pan, Cooking
Hello everyone, my name is Duong.
I am 32 years old.
I live in a poor mountainous area of Vietnam.
From a young age, I had to work hard to help my parents.
Difficult life is always around, I work and learn everything from my grandparents and the old people in the village.
Gradually, I mastered the skills.
5 years ago, I decided to live the challenge.
Determined to learn about the primitive way of life, I chose to live in the wilderness, alone.
Where there's no technology and forcing yourself to pass, it feels great!
How about you? Your life is definitely different from mine.
Have fun watching the video!

Duong ,please don't skip steps making stuffs, we are here for it, even if turning a block iron to a flat circle plane is boring,it is still worth watching!

Nice Wok!! You must have arms of steel all that pounding of metal. Remember fans there is another channel where primitive skills has more videos. It is Hoang Huong. Duong's wife and him are featured. My favorate video among many is where Duong's little daughter is walking inthe garden swinging her sticks and singing a song. So adorable!!!

It seems to me that a pedal operated flywheel similar to a grindstone would be useful for operating the bellows. I am not sure how one could be made, but Duong is very resourceful.
Дорогой Дуонг, ты сумел создать островок выживания, который обеспечен всем необходимым, благодаря золотым рукам и таланту! С огромным удовольствием смотрю выпуски и желаю успехов в дальнейшем развитии фермы.

I have seen all of your videos and look forward to more every week. I tell all my friends here in NYC that there is a guy out in the far North that started with a rock and kept building other tools till he started smithing. And built a stocked pond, uses water power, and everything around him to his advantage. Your work ethic is as inspirational as is your skills are impressive. I watch with my two daughters sometimes. Thank you!
I love all these updates. Isn’t Spring wonderful? Thank you, Sweet Sir 😺

I often use simple wooden stumps to make dishes and spoons. The hot iron naturally burns out a concave indent in the wooden stump, and forging on that can help you more easily create a dish for a pan

Good Idea. He already has a stump that is partially hollowed out from previous Blacksmith work. You see it it the background of this video. Not sure why he didn't use it. Maybe he didn't think of it, being a relatively inexperienced Blacksmith.

I’ve watched you since day one, you amaze me at your skill level every video. ❤❤❤
Nice job, both the pan and the lid! Love your force work .
I strongly suggest you season the pan, now that you've made it. Thinly coat it with oil or fat on all the metal surfaces, wipe off any excess, then roast it over the embers of a fire until it stops smoking. Let it cool down, then repeat. Do this at least 12 times (20 would be better), and it should help stop the food from sticking too badly. (Yes I know that seasoning usually recommends 5 or 6 coats to start, but it's better to work up more layers at the start, because fat/oil is not often found in Duong's meals to begin with. That means it's better to spend it on making the pan stick-resistant early on, than having to constantly scrounge up enough fats later on to keep things from sticking, because that actually requires greater amounts.)

For bigger work like your pan, your forge will be much more efficient if you spring a clay arch dome over 1/2 to 2/3 rds of the forge to contain the heat. Then you can load your workpiece and charcoal through the front opening.

Hello, Fantastic craftsman on figuring out what is needed and building what is needed and working very hard. G.L.Gillen Baytown, Texas U.S.A.
Very nice work! Don't forget to season the inside of the pan.
Much love from the UK, hope you and the fam are well. Peace 😊
An excellent demonstration of the blacksmithing art, but for the "time and money" cost, I would have been inclined to explore several shops with a collection of pots and pans in various metals and bought an entire commercial array of pots and pans that almost everyone could afford. BUT his "wok" like pan looks like it would be perfect for my morning omlet using my gas ring turned down low. The same as my light-thin skillet using an thermostatically turned down (to about 20~30%) electric hot plate. My recipe to start a beautiful day: "Using 2 eggs from a 700gm dozen pack, a small amount of fresh milk so that the eggs blend to the tune of my beating-fork then onto the well buttered pan to slowly cook the generous 0.3inch layer of egg mix, covered with a glass pre-warmed lid to watch it rise to caress the lid to a 2 inch high golden delight sprinkled with a dusting of salt and black pepper. My morning coffee is medium-fine grind, light-roasted "Robusta" coffee grown on the local Atherton Tablelands, (not high enough to grow "Arabica" reliably), cold-dripped overnight to make a 'weak creamy flat white caffiene fix, with a perfect egg breakfast'".
Cada dia você nos surpreende com Boa idéia ..ficou ótimo essa peça ❤❤🇧🇷🇧🇷

Your videography is really excellent. I enjoy all the different angles, and views. I watched since the very begining of your channel. Your channel just keeps getting better. Always interesting to see whats next.
Great video, as always. You might consider using the English word "cabin" or "house" instead of the word "tent" at this point. The word "tent" usually refers to structures that use fabric for the ceiling and walls. Of course, we know what you mean when you say "tent." but what you have built is now much more than a temporary tent. It is now somewhere between a "hut" and a "house." The best terms for that would be "shack" or "cabin" or "cottage." You could refer to your whole farm as a "homestead," your "nursery," or even your "ranch."

did you know my friend, that if you first heat the iron up to cherry red then let it cool very slowly by burying it in wood ash it will make the metal soften and become much easier to work. especially when working with stones this will let you save much of your energy for other projects.😁😇 much Love, from Kansas City USA. @@Lauradicus The soil has a very high clay content. I believe it will take a few years of diligent composting to get close to the organic matter in the soil that one would need for "no dig". I gather that composting is not a widely used practice in Viet-Nam. If/when they can start adding manure and turning, composting will take off. I'm operating with the assumption that they simply have to see the benefits to understand. Thanks for being supportive 😊
