I stayed somewhere on a residential trip for a week, 2 activities a day. The very last one was abseiling and, at first, i didnt want to do it because like acrophobia and stuff, but after a while, the supervisors (whatever they were called) talked me into it. All i did was the leaning back part, but it was enough

year 9 residential, i was terrified of heights and wouldnt do the ziplining or rock climbing (both on an outdoor tower that moved in the wind), they basically said these exact lines lol

Second year at college we went to an outdoor team building activity centre, when I say I’m an old woman in a nineteen year olds body I mean that. I did the rock climbing, I did the assault course, I did the ladder which I couldn’t even get on because I’m too small, I let people touch me which is out of my comfort zone but I drew the line at the 3G swing. Basically you were sitting on your harness holding this fence in front of you and the other teammates would pull the rope until you went as high as you wanted and then you’d just drop. I was one of two students who didn’t do it out of about a hundred of us. Everyone tried to convince me but I couldn’t and I don’t regret it, I’m so glad my group didn’t have to do the other course where you’d climb up this assault course and have to jump down about two stories high. You had to relay on your teammates to make sure you didn’t hit the ground, I’d rather spend a whole day with a lecturer who was thrown off from teaching my class because we didn’t like him, and who I can’t stand.😊

I never thought about it before but this is spot on. I am absolutely petrified of heights... I mean PETRIFIED. I have a problem with my balance, so that makes it worse as well. But I remember when I was about 10, we went on a school tour in school, and there was a zipline about 100 feet tall, maybe even taller, and I was dead set against not doing it, and after a lot of coaxing from my teacher and a few friends, I actually did it. Tbh to this day I still don't know how I done it, because my fear of heights is so bad that i don't even like coming down the stairs, and I live in a 2 story house, so that's not great.
