The API option is made of a camera placed on one side of the machine and a light on the opposite side. The side of camera and light may vary based on the model, the loading/unloading side and the machine configuration.
This system is capable of measuring the angle of a bend; therefore, it is used to ensure that a bend reaches the target angle within the required tolerance, and this is made thanks to subsequent iterations of measures, corrections and checks.
The guaranteed angle accuracy is between ±0.5° and ±1° depending on part geometry.
The operator can set a general system tolerance, but it is then possible to set a different tolerance for a specific part and even for a specific bend.
The first time the system is used on a bend with specific angle and length, to reach the target angle it requires a certain number of attempts, which vary according to the accuracy required (typically 2 or 3).
For all the other bends with the same angle and length, the number of attempts is reduced (typically to only 1), as the system applies the corrections previously detected.
The time required to measure an angle is around 2 seconds.
