Priest Killed | Roasted His Heart, Used The Oils To Clean Their Boots
Ойын-сауық
Fr. Michael Murphy (c. 1767 - 9 June 1798) was an Irish Roman Catholic priest and United Irishmen leader during the Irish Rebellion of 1798.
While his birthplace in Ireland is undetermined, various locations (such as Ballinoulart, Castleannesley or in Kilnew, County Wexford) are documented as possibilities. He was ordained a priest in 1785 at Wexford after completing hedge school in Oulart. His first parish was at Ballycanew, after Theology and Philosophy studies at the Irish College in Bordeaux in France. Murphy joined the Rebellion on 27 May 1798 following the vandalism of his church by Crown yeomen, despite a mostly pacifist stance by the church leadership.
Murphy proceeded towards battle at Gorey, Kilthomas Hill, then Ballyorril Hill where he met with fellow priest Fr. John Murphy of Boolavogue. Murphy was attacking a gun position on horseback at the Battle of Arklow on 9 June 1798 when he was killed by gunfire. His grave is at Castle Ellis

It's a terrible thing to take a life but then remove the heart to shine your boots how utterly gruesome. I feel so sorry for that man to have to have his mortal remains violated like that. Greetings from Connecticut USA 🇺🇸

The story of Father Murphy is truly AWFUL. He died fighting for his country and deserved to be shown respect in death as a brave man and not to have his body disrespected in such a vile way.May he rest in peace. Thanks for another great video. I really like the fine carvings on the headstones.

Hi Ben, I am English and I am 100% behind your comment. You the British of those times were so cruel. I don't believe it was necessary to be so cruel and evil. They certainly had some vile methods of execution and killing. May Fr Murphy rest in eternal peace.

@@SerenitySueGraveyards My Grand father whomI do not remember, played on British cruise ships. He was from England, but his surname was Ewing. George French Ewing. My fathers mother died very young, and my father was left with another family in CA, as they had relocated there. She worked in movies, my Grandfather could not take him on his ocean travel band, career. There are things I do not know about him. It’s sad. I just know he played the cello, violin, either banjo or ukulele. I always was taken by the sounds of string instruments. In my elder years, I wish I had been able to learn to play. The music, haunts my Soul. I also love the music from the Isles. Seems a part of me, also.
