I first noticed this "gardening design" when I walked thru the University of Tennessee campus 4 years ago. I thought it absurd and crazy, like Alice's fabled trip "down the rabbit hole" that seems a motif employed by parents and children alike around the country in the past decade. Imagine my surprise when I visited Lakeshore Park, a beautiful park outside Knoxville that was once the campus of the East Tennessee Insane Asylum for over 100 years and found the same design.
