I don’t understand why they want them to get married so bad. What would happen if they didn’t get married? Please reply 😭

They needed them to get married so bad because if they didn't that means or implies "sex before marriage" or "living together before marriage" and during those times is was an awful disgrace to the family if their daughter was out and about with a boy she isn't married to.. if you know anything about this girls parents is that she they only truly care about the money and their own reputation.. so yeah its kinda a huge huge deal to them..

They - the Bennets- worry that she may not be a virgin no longer and that she (Lydia) lost her virginity to him. Therefore, she should marry Wickham to protect her and the family reputation.

@@RR-gu3de wait. I am confused. So the Bennett’s think that because Lydia might have lost her virginity to Wikham they should get married?

@@melinamollaeizadeh9424 Yeah it is a bit dodgy, but running off with a man regardless of whether you lose your virginity to him or not, is very unheard during Regency Er, so to protect their status they need Wickham to marry Lydia. As it is Lydia, who is very wild, Mary suspects she has lost her 'virtue' (virginity) and therefore they MUST get married
