I really appreciate the correlation between the simple psychological evaluation you go through in the intro and the way more elaborate personality test that the game itself turns out to be. Push the fat man takes on a whole new meaning at the end. Also the fact the you start playing as a human trapped in a station with the typhons when in fact you were a typhon trapped in a station with the humans all along.

The best part in all this is we aren't even thinking of what this game would be like in an alien perspective because we are humans playing a "simulation" for an alien being so we automatically are prone to being humanitarian about our choices it baffles me to think how I cannot play the game in such an alien fashion since there is no known for an alien perspective cause even if we hypothesize that it still originates from a human perspective and therefore is simply inconceivable.

That last evil ending... Can you imagine such an alien species being that smart that it does everything right like the humans wanted, just so that it could escape in the end? Its like true mind fuckery, especially if you were in the shoes of the last humans trying to train an alien weapon to be on their side, but the experiment fails in the end..

but wait, we can go deeper. That last past was also part of the simulation, as a last varification of its loyalty. If the Typhon shakes Alex's hand, it means it passes and it gets to actually exit the simulation. If it kills Alex, it failed the simulation.

Also, notice when you do the "escape early" its looking glass V 3.1 and they say "start over" and when you complete the game its looking glass 3.5, so is probably a few years later worth of testing before they find the right one

My favourite ending was the one where Venom kills Gaben, because they forced him to look at screenshots from prototype 2.

January's my favorite character in this game. Just the Escape Alone and Sacrifice endings say that. He knows he can't let you escape, his Directives tell him that. But he's willing to take irreparable damage to get you there. Just...wow. And then there's the fact that he's pretty much Operator Morgan, which makes it even better.

But I already made up my mind in my first play through is "non shaw sent back to Earth" I even kill the two Talos in the escape pod and also blow up the space ship(side quest on the board) without hesitating, because you know "not a single cell shaw escape the Talos one" But at the end January told me "Hey Morgan you know what, you can go with your coworkers" I know it supposed to be heart warming that an operator actually thinks about you, but it just made my determination feals like a joke (and it is a joke in the true ending)

I'm mostly cracking up because Markiplier's guess about being a typhon the whole time was correct from the beginning prediction. However, he'll be very surprised when he finds out that it's not for the same reasons he thought xD

Watching you stumble across talos taking crazy damage and almost dying made me remember my walkthrough - towards the end i was a god. All human abilities maxed, combat focus plus fully upgraded shotgun/particle gun/shocker, 300 health 300 psi 100 suit I was just walking through talos killing anything i felt didn't need to be there. Nightmares took 6 shotgun blasts, telepaths were food, technopaths I didn't even notice at that point. Poltergeists were the only enemies causing mild discomfort.

You guessed because it`s one of the most overused plot twists in movies and games.

Quick summary/explaination: Basically the "Morgan" that we played as for the entire game is actually a Typhoon designed by Alex with inserted REAL MORGAN's empathy, inteligence and some memories. The original Morgan is long dead, but it's unknown if he/she died by an accident or by some evil plot. When it comes to Alex, it's not sure if he is purely EVIL. No person in the entire game is perfect, people have different opinions and Alex craved knowledge and progress, but he wasn't evil either, he didn't plan to kill for that knowledge (his many actions show it).

The beggining of the game already reminded me of the SOMA prototype, the similarities keep on go even further I see. I guess it's part of the reason I like this game so much.

there may be another ending somehow. When the apex typhon attacks, in alexes safe room there is the last transcribe "if things go sideways" from morgan to himself and another operator, October, where he says he has made plans for a nullwave that KILLS the typhons, and that he left it on top of the data tower next to the scary chair. The one alex wants you to use is just incapacitating them.

Wow, I didn't know you could dive through the fountain to another floor. This game has so many cool secrets. I got the most emphatic achievement even with typhon installed to the level where turrets won't attack me.

Both endings were with high empathy though, what happens if you killed everyone and have low empathy what do they say then?

meh, they all come to the same conclusion, killing them all or shaking hands. They change the dialogues they are going to have for you but nothing else. I actually thought about playing the game again and just kill everyone that's alive, executing the pods, blowing up another pod, killing Dahl, etc. But its gonna come to the same ending anyway.

True. I replayed it just to mess around with the powers a little more. And figured I might as well try some different endings. But they disappointed.

the first time i played this game, i put it down about 10 hours in or so. i thought i was done with it. but it has one of the best introductions to a video game i've ever seen, so i picked it back up again. my intent was to rush through the main story. i ended up completing about 90 percent of the game (some quests i failed accidentally). this game made me feel at times it was hopeless, other times i felt comfortable, only to be ripped from that comfort and doubt my abilities. this game is a master-piece and when i would look up occasional clues, i would realize people's games were playing quite different than mine at times. awesome game!

That final ending is truly horrific. Your last attempt at saving humanity just utterly goring you, inexplicably, even after everything seemingly going smoothly. Igwe saying "I don't understand" is just heartbreaking.

Just finished this game, thought it was really good, interesting. I've got an old PS4 though and the loading times were an absolute chore, especially with all the backtracking needed. Great video by the way.

Yes, you're the phantom that consumed the original Morgan which was injected with Morgan's memories several times. That's why the doctors were freaked out when you hid behind a chair before mimicking it(which you already could as neuromods were fake) and you can use those blasts to blast out all the blocks.

I LOVED this storyline, and the ending was M. Night Shamylan wet dreams level of twist. Started getting the creeping suspicion around the third time I saw putting human data into typhons, but then the game kept throwing me expertly placed red herrings to jar me back into it. Like finding the child's drawing he sends his mother aboard the station where he clearly envisions Typhon Phantoms in his dreams.

This game will forever be one of my absolute favorites. I found it at a gamestop at a discount, played it, loved it, looked up the reviews and was shocked by awful they were. I think this is a lesson for gamers worldwide, teaching us to continue exploring and stop listening to people who aren't even that passionate about games, because they slaugther amazing stuff weekly. Edit: And the IGN reviewer probably didn't even make it out of Morgans room. Most likely looking for a button for 6 hours and decided to hate it because he has the brain of a turnip.

The entire game being a simulation is reinforced a few times in the same way. In the very beginning you destroy the glass leading to the balcony only to realize that it's not real glass, it's the technological "looking glass" that can perfectly depict any scene. You can also do this in Morgan's office for the large rectangular looking glass. Most importantly, when you reach the Command Deck (and this is what really sold for me), the entire forward view of space used for navigation is nothing more than a huge panel of looking glass. Behind it is simply tech access and metal walls, no real windows at all. This implies that the ship is not actually a ship, and at this point we cannot even be sure that the game takes place in space. If you don't believe me, shoot it or hit it with your wrench.

I have a few concerns: 1. What happened to the real Morgan? 2. Who got his/her memories and how? 3. What happened to Alex. Is the guy in the and the real Alex? 4. At the end why only Alex is the only human and all other just robots? 5. Who is this Typhon? How did they capture him? Who conducted this whole test? If the humans then what happened to the other humans ? If the typhons then why did they wanted to run such a test? Maybe is only me but these endings are not good ones and doesnt explain a damn thing.

1: Dead 2: A phantom typhoon 3: Unsure, i believe he's alive, the ending where he shakes hands might be a simulation.. or it's real. 4: They are actors for the simulation, possibly neuromods to keep their memories. 5: Same typhon you play as in the simulation in the beginning, where you take tests and the doctor is being all weirded out, because you're not using any of your typhon abilities.

1. real Morgan died a long time ago 2. they stored your memory with some neural-whatever magic, same way they made January and same way they make neuromods based off of real people's abilities. 3. it's the real Alex. No reason to think otherwise 4. presumably because everyone else on Talos 1 is dead and Alex is the only one left alive (he had a private shuttle, remember?) 5. You seem to be a phantom or possibly a mimic. Maybe you were made in a lab? Maybe they lured you in. I don't think it matters how they captured you. Anyway, Alex and the 4 operators conducted the test, which was basically you strapped in a chair and put through a sim. The other humans are dead / not there. You can see that planet Earth has been overrun by typhon, so most people are probably dead by now.

The Doctor is weirded out because Morgan isn't using the neuromods because Simmons removed them under instructions from January to ensure your escape. This is all part of the simulation that Alex has the Phantom under.

Thanks for this. I wanted to see all possible endings but didn't want to replay the game to get them, even from an earlier save. Pretty cool game, just wished for different, more powerful weapons.

Side note: all the different endings are going down to the first simulation at the beginning of the game where they test our ethic and moral view. If anyone is interested, it's called the "trolley problem" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolley_problem

I got the true ending. THe phantom handshake. A phantom consumed morgan or be became a self aware empathetic phantom. Not sure which. They say its a memory program. But thats such an easy way to see it. also at 29:37. Its just another simulation. I believe that ai are all thats left of civilization. Kind of like the nier automata effect. And they create lies to keep morale up among the more "human like" ai. Either way I want a sequal. I wanna see the world cover in typhons. I want to play as a typhon.

From what I played and read in the game Phantoms don't consume humans, yeah they kill them but Phantoms are created by Weavers. My personal opinion is that at the end the Phantom is Morgan Yu, created by a Weaver. Morgan Yu and the Phantom are one, at least that is my personal opinion, I am more than likely wrong.

I'm thinking morgan was the successful project they were working on. A phantom that they created successful. The bridge between humanity and typhons. But he struggles with both sides.

Self aware empathetic plus it was given Morgan’s memories and allowed to make the moral choices but Morgan is dead

I replayed the ending on PC with the FOV set to 120. You can see your entire body that way and whole arms. You can also fully see the walls to your left and right. When I replayed the ending that glitch never happened. I thing that glitch without Alex is an actual game glitch and not a secret easter egg.

I had a feeling there was more to that mirror neuron experiment that they talked about though that ending caught me off guard and I loved it.

30:11 is the phantom saying "I don't agree"?!?

What causes January to stun Alex instead of Alex disabling January? I've seen it both ways but I'm confused what determines it.

LB if you put the nullwave before you arm the keys then January incapacitates alex. If you arm the keys and then pit the nullwave then its the other way around

If you click the self destruct button immidiantly Alex will drop is gun and your can hear both of their dialog

Look at the seconds part at the end of the video

is there any special or different ending for escaping by using the pod and dragging Alex's unconscious body with you?

a true different endings game... they sure don't make enough of these games!

Most of the way through playing it again and now i watch this and go mmmm maybe ill go play mooncrash instead and see how that story plays out. Such a great game ohh how i miss good games with real in depth stories

When I watch the ending I'm reminded for some reason of a scene from Invader Zim - "ITS ME, I WAS THE TYPHON ALL ALONG!!" XD

That last ending lets you know the whole thing was a simulation

I wondered why this was all stuttery and laggy, then it all made sense when I saw the Xbox achievement show up.

I wonder what the threshold is to get the good ending, here he took no Typhon mods, but killed some humans and got the good ending. I killed no humans, but took a crapton of Typhon mods, dialogue at the end was slightly different, but otherwise still the good ending. Good job on the compilation of endings btw.

the name of this game reminds me of another prey I played starring the player as tommy

This wasn't all the endings at all. So many pieces of dialogue aren't in this video.

I just finished it. Ending felt like a slap in the face.

now that I was trying to figure out how you get that different ending when you blow up transtar. my option is that when I do that he just let's me take a seat and watch it all end wtf

So every other ending that said he felt it was a dream was a failed simulation the right choices that had to be made were the ones where he had to end up with alex in the chair basically to me it ment that the human and typhon dna mixed perfectly and it actually could finally see like humans because typhons didnt see like humans amazing ending man oh man.

It seems like that one guy on /v/ 2 months ago was telling the truth about the ending

I liked the after credit scene of the game, that is truly the best part. But holy shit are the two cut-scenes for either blowing up talos or using the Nullwave underwhelming. One is Alex selling Neuromods and the other BRO I KEEP HAVING THIS DREAM MAN

That's crazy that the whole game was a simulation and you find out at the last scenes your actually really part alien and human like Venom.

Honestly this ending fucked me up. Arkane, you never disappoint me :)

i dont know if there are more endings but what i do know is that there is obviously aome dialogue difference if u have installed Alien neuromods but im not sure if that effects the game in the post credit scene or not

Well, surprising. I didn't think it was a simulation, but I was assuming that the main character was actually a Typhon.

This ending really disappointed me to be perfectly honest. I guess I'm just biased or something because I always hate a simulation/ dream ending. It's a quick and easy way for me to feel like nothing I did mattered, even in this case. I felt like all my choices, my saving of SOOOO many people, my developing of relationships with them, my secret planning to ensure they got out before I blew up Talos I, my inner conflict between saving as many people as possible and ensuring that the Earth is not attacked by the Typhon, all of it boiled down to impressing a few robots. It just felt so... unsatisfying...

Let me tell you the real story! We are actually the aliens doing a simulation in morgans mind.Morgan is dead a long time ago.So the part where Alex ask to shake hands and ask us (alien) to see him is to actually restore morgan's memory and his life.So the last part you see is his hand turning back into a human.And that is the real morgan yu.All the simulation was just to restore Morgan's memory and life.

Wait, so Alex's plan is to repopulate Earth using Typhons that think they're human? Sounds like an interesting premise for a sequel.

IIUBCROSS no it’s not Morgan a phantom was given his memories and was able to make the choices to see if they could show empathy

Actually saw this coming a mile away. Down in psychotronics there's this email or transcribe about a proposal to try and use the neuromod principle to make the typhon capable of empathy. The game opens up with everything being a lie, so after that you can put two and two together.

this game is all about locating. Finding. Destroying. Going back in circles
