Threaded connections are some of the biggest culprits when it comes to leaks within the boiler room. The start-ups and shutdowns cause expansion and contraction of the metal piping and the threads are vulnerable to developing a leak because of the changing conditions. Thread sealant selection for one is very important, however, certain systems especially those of higher pressures and temperatures should avoid threaded connections when possible.
