Pressure Points as Maths State Machine - "Pretty Krell" Eurorack

Музыка

Using Make Noise Pressure Points to store different states for a Maths envelope in a self-playing patch.
A bit scatterbrained recording this, but wanted to document it before it's dismantled. I hope to continue to improve at describing interesting techniques in clear and understandable ways.
Here's a link to the original patch on Instagram: / bpwfcxlheb4
And a separate, brief description as well: / bp3awpuhxpc

Great binaural effect with your voice through my headphones. You were right behind me explaining everything. It still amazes me how that effect is created. Every tutorial should be presented this way.

Jason Ramler Ah cool, thank you! Making some minor changes in recording these days, but hoping the videos still retain this intimacy.

That's sort of what I've been planning on getting a pressure points for. Sort of triggerable state machine for sequential switches.

Nice idea and cool sounds. This would be a cool way to control the scale type and root note of a quantiser.. or a multi channel VC clock divider (eg Ladik S-060)... Damn, now I want that and a Pressure points.... and a brains..... and a new case......

Really appreciate your video and description of this patch. I copied this and it sounded really good, except for some reason my SQ-1 would go completely nuts sometimes, the triggers just get into a really fast crazy loop and I found it difficult to keep it stable, even with long rise and fall settings. Still, fun patch to play around with :)

stateazure That's really cool to hear. Regarding the SQ-1 going whacky: you may need to change the Sequence Step Resolution to quarter notes. You can do this by holding the play button and turning on the power. Set the Sequencer Mode knob to the first squiggly mode. Press power again and the unit will start up with this new setting. When it receives a trigger at Sync In, it'll hopefully just advance one note at a time. I may be wrong; I don't remember how I did it here! But I hope that helps, and I hope it works for ya.

Really nice, calming above all , including your voice. What's the sound source you use for the tone?

nefaco Thank you! This patch is a bit fuzzy in memory, but I think the melodic tone is a triangle wave from a Doepfer VCO. I think it had either frequency modulation or amplitude modulation fading in and out from another VCO. A VCA would've been providing the varying amount of modulation.

Hey, again pretty great stuff - can you recommend speakers and headphones for Eurorack? Outer than that do you use an external mixer and if so, can you recommend one?

DJ Free Heya, thanks again! I must admit, my knowledge regarding studio monitors and headphones is sorely lacking. You may be better served by a forum in this case. I have a small external mixer in storage, but I'm not currently using it. But with that said, if you have any of the gear you mentioned, and it works for you and you like it, don't be afraid to integrate it with a Eurorack system! It'll work just fine, you don't need anything to special to get started. Just don't forget that an audio output will typically be very loud. 🔊

One Minute Architecture Thank you! The sequencer is the Korg SQ-1, in Major Scale mode for 'quantized' voltages.

I think this was a plate or hall reverb from the Zoom MS-70CDR, a nifty multi-effect pedal. There's also a drone underneath the patch that might give the impression of thick, dense reverb as well!
