Pressure loss calculation of orifice plate
This video explained the Pressure loss calculation of the orifice plate.
After watching this video you will able to do the hydraulic calculations of the orifice plate. this video gives a brief explanation of why the orifice plate used in the orifice flow meter. explained what is a beta ratio. what is orifice?
how to calculate pressure drop in the orifice. how to calculate discharge coefficient of orifice meter etc.

nice---very informative

I think a factor 2 is missing in the second formula from the top in the video at t=4:10. In the Excel sheet it is included. Thanks a lot for this video and example sheet. Very helpful!

Yep but spreadsheet is right
Thanks a lot, what standard are you relying on for this calc.?
Where did you get your coefficient of discharge formula from on your excel spreadsheet?
Thanks a lot dear, what standard are you relying on for this calc.?
Can we consider the orifice opening angle.
There is another discrepancy, in the workbook, Beta is the area ratio rather than the diameter ratio, resulting in a very different result.

Beta ratio = area ratio= (diameter ratio)^2

How to calculate the discharge coefficient when the flow in unknow? please I need this information
The pressure loss coefficient correlation comes from "I. E. Idelchik - Handbook of Hydraulic Resistance (2008, BHB)". But in this book page 260, the beta is substituted by area ratio, i.e. beta^2, at time 3:35. Additionally, the calculation for phi in Idelchik's book, the fisrt coefficient is 0.25 rather than 2.5 at time 3:35. I wonder which one is correct ?

Besides, the excel sheet B25, calculating K, seems to put exponent 1.375 inside the bracket, which is a different form from this video.
How do u calculate the value in cell C4
Math is not my strong suit, but I have run some testing using your spreadsheet to come up with baseline expected results. In the test lab, the pressure drops I can recreate are 50-60% of the pressure drops the formulas in your spreadsheet give me. I think there may be a calculation error somewhere.

I wonder, is the K for the pressure drop where it is highest in the vena cava, or after it where the pressure is higher than the vena cava, but still lower than inlet pressure.

In Your orifice plqte calculation excel sheet... please check again for the correctness of pressure drop formula and coefficient of discharge formula... Something is wrong...
The excel workbook for this video has a small error. In cell B23 the formula for the flow coefficient φ uses 0.25 instead of 2.5 as shown in the video. I am guessing this is an error in the workbook rather than the video, correct?

this excel seems made for water. When I entered N2 gas details for inlet condition of 2 m3/hr flow, 4 bar pressure and 45 deg C temp for 2 mm size orifice in 1 inch pipe, it did not return me any value. I used 1.165 as N2 density.

It's not applicable for compressible fluid like gas.
Is it really the pressure at section 2 lower than the pressure at section 3 ?????

the pressure at section 2 is the lowest. But Section 3 is always less than section 1
