Pressing too hard drilling with SDS rotary hammer?

How hard should you press when drilling with an SDS rotary hammer drill? and what happens when you press too hard? Let's find out! Here I use the Bosch Green PBH 2100 SRE to test what happens with different pressures on the drill. The results sure surprised me!

Surprising results! I always used light pressure on site, likely won't change due to extra work for the motor and energy used from me like you mentioned but really interesting nonetheless.

Nice test, would be nice to see a higher output tool and battery runtime in the test.

Most SDS hammer actions drills will do the job as well as each other >But use a cheap bit and its game over . INVEST in quality drill bits and they will make it all better

Surprise results! 😮 I expected medium pressure to be fastest.

First time viewer here, what about tip of bit temperature?

Good question! I've tried that with my IR camera and the measurements are all over the place. Shiny metal will show reflected heat off other objects, and the drill dust obscures the bit. So, I haven't been able to measure the bits reliably but that's something I do want to improve on cos I use thermal imaging here and cooking bits is a big problem! kzread.info/dash/bejne/oZyIrayLebfelrA.html

Should have put a load cell under that concrete cylinder.

Haha I actually tried that but my load cells weren't a good shape. Got a flat one now, so in future I'll try
