    I’m glad to hear someone else reuses stacking boards. I started out changing them out every press and that began adding an unnecessary cost to the process. I reused the boards and didn’t notice any negative byproducts, so that’s what I do now, too. I’ll change them out every 25-30 presses, maybe, just to keep them fresh. A lot more cost effective than throwing them away each press.

    Question: I have been reading the advanced book to CPR-whitening and staining. The chapter where they go over the HOP method of mentioned that if you use the HOP and bled method. You aren’t suppose to put the book in the humidity box for the final press. Could you explain why the book says this as I fig. After it had received both of those methods a humidity treatment is something that book would need since the covers would be so dried out from everything. And if you yourself have used this same method have you still used the humidity box without any damage to the book after.

  • @TopComicsPressing

    @TopComicsPressing

    It all depends on how dry the book is. I use bled-o as my go too method and in that case I do hunidity the book as normal before press. With hop there is a lot more moisture involved and you can hop then final press w/o more moisture.

  • @jonr269

    @@TopComicsPressing I tried the bled-O method last night in a book. But the overlay page wasn’t pulling anything off the stains on the book, mind you this was a silver age test book the had stains on it for this reason. But after a dry clean then misting the overlay page with 1.5% hydrogen peroxide and letting it sit on the cover of the book for 2 hours in the light box. I didn’t notice any difference in color or Change in stains. I did double check the process and steps in the book to make sure I did then right. Shouldn’t the color if anything Atleast shown a more brighter appearance?

    I have been reusing boards, sometimes a couple of dozen times as long as they have not been compromised by "naughty bits". I change out paper much more frequently and recycle it into my PC printer so it's not wasted. I go through more 20 lb paper than average probably b.c. I use it instead of SRP paper very often to ensure better moisture elimination during pressing. I wonder if anyone else finds SRP paper often unnecessary in regular pressing. BTW, another great video Joe!
