Let's assume that his maximal lifespan will be 150 years. The lifespan is definitely a positive value, so it can't go negative. Hence... All that you should do is to hit the button so many times that your lifespan reduces to 0, then hit it again at any cost. As the number can't go below zero, it moves to the upper limit of the value range, which varies from 255 through 65535 and 4294967295 to... well, even bigger numbers

Somehow, I don't think human lives work like computer integer limits. I could be wrong, and am open to be proven wrong, but somehow I don't think that decreasing your life span integer below zero will set it to the max limit of whatever however many bits our existence calculates in. As much as I'd like to Nuke-Happy-Gandhi my way into living long enough to see the sun die out, unfortunately I don't think I can do that.

Lose a few years to retire decades early? I'd absolutely give it 7 or 8 pushes and dump most of it all into index funds (~11% annual returns on average, even account for recessions etc.). Not devoting more than 1/3 or your life to work (including transit, etc.) is already like living 1/3 longer, and the increased quantity of life from eliminating all that work/financial stress (and occupational health issues) could more than offset the initial button spam.

@@mastershake4641 Even then it'd still be a question of "enjoy a few years of early retirement vs. working until you die," which isn't a slam-dunk argument either way. It'd really depend on whether the person has a work-life balance, if they have dependents (losing a loved one vs. that payout; especially if the family is financially insecure), etc. Though if dependents and such are a concern, the a decent life insurance policy would also go great with the button for ensuring they're provided for.

I would push it 3-4 times. That’s enough money to substantially improve my life and the life of my family right now. If I die of old age: those 3-4 years are possibly going to be the worst quality of life years I have, depending on my overall health. If instead I die young and you’d consider this a “waste” - at least I’ll be leaving my wife and kid with enough money to get by without my wages

Just end my life
Dude straight up spam that button like an osu player-
Assuming he presses it 5 times a second, which seems like a fair estimate, he lost around 70 years and made $7,000,000. Since he isn't aging while the button presses we can assume he won't die of old age he'll just die. I'm gonna cap his death age of 100 and say he's 18, giving him a maximum of 12 years to enjoy that 7,000,000 but technically speaking he could drop dead at any moment considering he pressed it so many times and is still going.
god must really hate him, he won’t let him die.
The face of determination...
Finally a relatable animation! :)
Dude had hope for a moment. Maybe this button works and the whole thing can be wrapped up here and now. Than comes the inevitable realisation: the button is fake.
Finally, a character I can relate to
Hell if I knew that the money would go to my family I would do the same. Sure I don’t have kids myself (nor do I plan to have any) but it could go a long way to help ensure that my nieces and nephews will have a great life! :)

Somehow this made me appreciate both the longevity and brevity of human life. That he could press it so many times and yet live, that he wasted so many years of memories.
In a similar fashion, it is said that one should hold their breath while driving past cemeteries in order to save breaths at the end of one's life. Instead of doing that, I hyperventilate while driving past them. 😉
