Presidential Rail Trail; Randolph, New Hampshire

Beautiful bike ride at the base of the Presidential Range. Frog ponds, ruins, waterfalls, bridges and overall mountain views along the Moose River.

Hi Chris. Great places, great trip you have here. I used to think that in America is always around state parks and reserves, or Private property areas. But here you had so great to travel, just like I did in Russia, when in Geology worked. Basically on army truck (4x4 with variable tires pressure) or if in Siberia on special track-type machine. It had no matter what place and how to go. Can be directly through the forest so trees fells, or by swamp. It even could swim, but I didn't probe this feature. Thanks Andrew

Hi Andrew. This is a rail trail, which is a former railroad bed that has been turned into a multi use bicycle-hiking trail. These are becoming more frequent and have often been purchased from the railroad by the government, albeit state or local, or in some cases private. Very few recreational areas on the east coast are public land that is not administered by some kind of park or forest system. In the west, the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) handles much of the public land. Best regards, Chris
