The Republican party is now opposed to very idea of an independent Judicial system and advocates state religion based upon a grab bag of quaint fundamentalist Christian tropes. Republicans of today advocate authoritarian government without elections, not democracy and are a far cry from the Republicans of Hoover and Eisenhower's day.

Patriotism should bring butterflies to your stomach, tears to your eyes, and gratitude in your heart, not hate, judgement, and anger. This is how one can tell if your leader is truly a patriot. God Bless our fallen war dead and and God bless and protect our troops and their families for the major sacrifices they make for the security of our nation.

I would have more respect for him if he actually wrote that excellent speech. But that is the exact speech that President Ronald Reagan gave 40 years ago. Reagan, I respect.

D-Day represents about 1% of the war effort, Germany was fielding child soldiers. 99% of the war effort was exerted by Russians, Central Asians.

Since Nazis and Russians started WW2 from the joint invasion of Poland in 1939, it only makes sense that the aggressors would suffer the most in this war.

Re watched Reagan's Pointe du Hoc speech from 1984, the Gold standard of speeches for D-Day remembrances. This speech by "Old Yeller", was just a pound of lead. Reagan honored "the boys of Pointe du Hoc", "Old Yeller" is using them to justify more of our money to be sent to Ukraine. Sad, so sad.
