    I really like your videos because you grow and cook fantastic healthy food without trying to go back in time. A lot of KZreadrs in this sort of space seem to want to live in the 1800s and I just don’t understand it. Dehydrators and blenders and heat sealers are fantastic! I love your use of high tech to make simple food

    First video i've watched from this channel. Really interesting. I love it when people admit they could have done something better or weren't exactly happy with the outcome and how they might do it better next time. So much more realistic than someone pretending to say "OMG, this is the best thing ever!!!" just for some views. One is helpful, the other is not.

    I always love it when you show how you use your harvests. Although my stash of preserved items is nowhere near what you have, it gives me great satisfaction to have these items on hand both for my husband and myself and to share with our loved ones. I’ve noticed that our flavor preferences are very similar to those of your family. I recently pressure canned a few new recipes and wanted to let you know that “Pork and Black Beans,” from Diane Devereaux’s book, p. 70, and “”Aztec Chicken Soup” from The All New Ball Book of Canning and Preserving, p. 280 are delicious! I always love seeing your kids snacking on produce as they harvest it. Talk about nutritious snacks!

    I think you will find that the shelling peas and even carrots do better in the fall than in the spring. I think our springs are either too cool of too hot, where as our fall seem to be more temperature stable and it's easier to deal with a frost than with it being too hot. I'm in zone 7 and grow in both spring and fall, but seem to get better crops in the fall.

    A beautiful harvest Becky, thank you for sharing. I’m about to harvest garlic for the first time. You’re a huge inspiration when it comes to preserving the harvest, thank you.

  • @beentheredonethat6584

    @beentheredonethat6584

    Scapes start to grow straight up. As they grow in length they curl into a loop. After that they start to straighten. Pick the scape any time before they start to straighten, just above the topmost leaf junction. They just snap off with little effort. If you leave the scape on, the bulb size is compromised. It is better to take the scape off than to try to wait for the perfect moment. In my recent harvest there were a few plants that I had missed the scape. Those bulbs were half the size of the rest. I hope this helps.

    I really enjoy seeing the garden abundance and preservation methods. That content is very inspirational. But with all advertising you're doing for sponsored products, I can't help but feel that I'm being spoon-fed cheap products, and it makes the video feel slimy. On a previous video, you used a prebiotic in your garden, and you said you've been using it for years. Why haven't you been talking about it then? Why was this the first time we were told? What if that was the secret to helping someone produce food in a self-sufficient way? If you intend to help educate and inspire your audience, why isn't that what's happening? I can't wait to see the next sponsored product you swear you've been using for years but didn't tell us about.

I only accept sponsorships for things I use and like. Ads also support this channel. Most people pay for a subscription to be entertained or educated because there are costs involved. Since this entertainment is free for you, I take sponsorships and put in ads so I can be paid and recoup costs for my time and business expenses. Yes, this is a job. I don’t expect people to do things for me for free, providing entertainment or education as a job in KZread shouldn’t be any different. Nothing wrong with tastefully promoting a product you believe in. And you can always skip that portion. Not much different than talking to a friend and them sharing their recommendations for something related to your conversation. Typically channels who have ads like that also have promo codes you can use. So if you were interested you could save a little $ on the product. Just got to remember what you’re watching and why. No need to be so negative about it. But in the end you’re free to watch and subscribe to what you want. Not gonna bother anybody

    Yes You Tube is a business. Unless the vloggers get advertising revenue they don’t make a living from it. A lot of people don’t realise this. It’s very expensive for all the equipment needed and takes a lot of time out of a persons day to film and edit the vlogs. Think of it as their own TV channel. We are all getting it for free, so watching a few add won’t harm us and adds to the vloggers revenue.
