Pres. Mitch Daniels Rides “Couch Cart” To Spring 2021 Commencement
Mitch Daniels arrived at Purdue’s spring 2021 commencement in style.
The parents attending commencement on May 15 may have been slightly confused by the university president’s mode of transportation when Daniels rolled into Ross-Ade Stadium on a motorized couch. But those who were around Purdue’s campus during the spring semester likely recognized the “Couch Cart” - part go-kart, part garden cart, part loveseat.
Seniors Ethan Cox and Nathan Peercy and their housemates at Joshua House garnered instant fame among their fellow Boilermakers this spring once they unveiled their unique creation, which hit speeds of up to 12 mph while trekking about campus.
Luckily for President Daniels, Cox had room for one passenger to ride shotgun as he drove the Couch Cart to Ross-Ade to receive a degree in robotics. Cox made a quick stop by Hovde Hall to pick up his esteemed co-pilot, who served as commencement speaker following his memorable entrance to Purdue’s first outdoor graduation ceremony.

My sister, who has a daughter who just graduated as a nurse from Purdue, clued me in about the “couch ride”.
I absolutely love everything about this!

Have you seen the cost of lumber. That was probably a couple hundred bucks. They probably crowd funded to buy that steering board. But seriously, they are college kids on a budget, that's perfect for this.

The real issue is the garden cart that we're using for the chassis. We built it as cheaply as possible.

Mitch get rid of his Harley? I rode with him on the last round up......looks like he's out to pasture now.
The video was clearly shot in two times. The first half Mitch was sitting on the left, while later changed to the right. Maybe they stopped on the way and switched the seat.
