This slightly shorter devlog is covering what I did in preparation for allowing my friends to play a playtest version of Penumbra Tower. This includes updating existing Ui screens, adding a settings menu, adding a main menu, updating all the sound effects and adding one new item.

    Hope everyone had a great holiday! The next devlog will cover the changes I made based off the playtest feedback. I originally posted this devlog 2 days before Christmas but decided I will just wait until after the holidays.

    The feeling is very nice and i love the artstyle. And yeah, hitting the build button is one of the moment where you don't know if you will be stuck at your desk for the next 10 minutes or 10 hours.

    Nothing like some more game-dev progress to ring in the new year. The project is really starting to shape up. It's crazy how in just a couple of months Penumbra Tower will have already reached a year of publicly announced development

    Hey! Still lookin great! Also, I’ve got a bit of an idea (if it isn’t already in the game). An enemy that uses a decoy! The enemy’s ability spawns an empty husk which reveals it’s true nature on death. Possibly, the action could be unknown to the player and the enemy could turn invisible and sneak away, wasting player turns trying to slay the decoy. The player ability version could spawn a decoy which enemies could lock on to and attack instead of the player. Maybe it could be another snake or a reptile that sheds its skin, or even a butterfly that uses its cocoon as the decoy. Sorry if that was extremely difficult to understand, I was just going on and on

    You can also count moves that you took you to beat the floor

    sure, i don't know if it will matter too much for each floor because they are all randomized, but ill add it to the final total at the end

    It would be even better if you will add changing the characters but still stick with the frog and diff characters means diff stats like poisonous frog would poison the enemies while fat frogs mean more HP

    I think you should a bunch more mushrooms that could give you a risk for reward like 20% chance -5 max health and 80% +5 max health

    "Germania One" and "Inter", both from google fonts. i was actually thinking about changing the fonts, i was looking at the Rotwood demo and really liked the font they used, but couldn't figure out what it was

    I think that some sound effects sound to cartoony for the art and play style. I don’t really have any other criticisms his game looks fun!

    is there a way to sign up for a game testing?:) I run a small indie game-focused channel and I work as a game QA tester and testing indie games is one of my favorite things to do! :) btw the game looks very awesome, can't wait to try and cover the demo! :)

    yeah its funny i did a bunch of updates to the ui in this devlog, but I've already completely changed the player overlay again since posting this

    Hm, i realy think all the enemies look realy charming and cool, but idk about the mc, he looks kinda off tbh
