Police officers body cam caught video of a blue light hurtling down to earth. Minutes later a 911 call is made from a young man claiming to have seen 9ft alien in his backyard. He later said that where they landed it was blurry as if they obscured their appearance for a moment. when he faced the beings he said it felt like sleep paralysis, he was awake standing there and couldn't move. The title is about rallying all humans towards an ideal. The crisis are just a tool (climate, v1r00s, aliens, bigfoot invasion, etc). .... the problem with some academic fields is that there are no career foot holds and ledges.... lets envision a career like a mountain... like everest or K2.... you climb from the bottom... you start at base camp (thats uni, college or some NVQ/GNVQ qualification) .... then depending on the chosen career there are a number of ledges going all the way up to the top job.. the summit. Well.... some careers, such as IT, Accounts, Programming... they have many many ledges and camps all the way up the mountain... entry roles... training opportunities and chances for advancement. Unforutnatly (and I say this as a phys grad)... the sciences dont... what is a junior scientist? Well, it someone with a PhD who has spent around 7 years in uni... that's the problem with the sciences. If you are very very talented in the subejct.... yes its great ; if you just want to do a degree and get out there.. well, unforutnatly the degree doesn't give you any actual career skills. I mean, it very hard subject.. and it gives useful skills.. but not on the job, job ready skills. I think that needs to change.. students should be studying a range of practical gold dust skills that on exit of that 3-4 yrs degree... or even if they exit ealier.. they come out with something employers will hire them with. Uni needs to be a sound investment from a money point of view... I would want to see each and every year of a degree passed crammed with useful job ready skills... tech skills if its science... and at the end of each year should be a recognised stand alone qualification. A uni must be able to demonstrate that at each step of the way they are helping the student transfer their education into salary later. My problem with humanities is that it has become too left leaning and politicised.

There is a war between two different sets/types of VALUES.
