Alarm system with monitoring, window breach alarms, storm doors on front and back with deadbolts, camera monitoring every entry point, and a 9mm in a fast access safe that is one safety click away from making someone have a bad day. Although I'm happy with my setup, yours in one to be proud of. LOVE the hurricane doors on the outside of the house, I mean really no one is getting into your house with out a team effort.

HealthyPrepper I was thinking the best way to get into your fortified house, would be to go on roof pretending to do roof repairs, pop off a roof vent get access to attic, pop a inspection camera into each room. See where the valuables are, and where alarm sensors are (most are knee hight) once in attic you can also cut phone and power lines. I'd sugest you keep a pitbull in your attic, you never know the next roofer you see might be a assassin or someone trying to steal your cookies

You're on your way to a great start for your home. I like the idea of castle walls, with rosebushes that you have. Your outer perimeter of your property is actually your first line of defense. Whatever can be done to slow them down at that point is very important. I would suggest more climbing roses, you might even add blackberry vines. Hurricane shutters are really great, there are dual protection against human predators. And severe weather. From what you demonstrated in this video, I do see one correction that I would make. You want your bedroom to be more secure. The door Rod is not enough protection. It can be kicked in quite easily. I would suggest changing the door system completely. To a security door, one with a hurricane rating. These doors will even withstand a police battering ram. The next change that I would suggest, in your bedroom add hurricane rated windows. In conjunction with your hurricane shutters, will make your bedroom a safe room. This will give you the maximum amount of protection for your home.

impressive; thanks for sharing. my dad is a retired police officer living in Florida & years ago while at work, his house was broken into & robbed, & this was with window guards. He said a determined thief will get in, but a person could slow them down or make it challenging so they'd perhaps go to another, easier, house. I've lived in apt 25 yrs, much of that time alone, & it is a downstairs apt, right off the alley, so yrs ago I installed window guards. I remember I got home from work 1 time..

Honestly, your house is pretty darned secure. Like you said, any house can be breached. I would suggest an evacuation plan if you have not yet as a last resort with go bags to support you both. Have you considered edged weapons? If not, I would suggest looking into them. Kali or another style for close blade work is a good primer into how to most effectively use them. Also never hurts to have additional weapons for both of you, even if it's just a baseball bat.

Even if some dogs could be easy to kill, they still brought amazing benefits for a prepper. My neighbor has two great danes and when he's there, the dogs are amazingly sweet and cuddly. When the neighbors aren't there, the dogs look and act like they want to rip my head off. I can tel you I would never step in his home or backyard without them being present because two 160lbs Danes would absolutely give a robber a good ride for his money.

Your shutters are fantastic. If I may two suggestions for you to consider. 1. Driveway car alarm. Dakota Alert brand works really good. With one receiver you can have multiple transmitters with different tones. You'll quickly learn what area is for each tone, gives a lot of heads up. 2. Consider a pistol grip on the shot gun. Not because it's cool, but for indoors you can short stock it to shoot. Basically put stock over your shoulder and lay it flat. Put your face close to the receiver and just look down the barrel. Really shortens the over all length for sweeping the house. With a classic monte carlo style stock you will have basically shoot from the hip to shorten it, less accurate. Hope that helps.

Long screws in your door hinges and strikes will greatly buy you time. 3M film on your windows will buy you time. All you need is time enough to get your preferred home defense in place. What stage was CCTV? Excellent step. And I absolutely lean towards not advertising I have weapons in my house.

Don't forget your roof. A shingled roof is accessed in seconds with a shotgun and a Florida standard terracotta roof is even more vulnerable. If you live in a single story with an attic crawlspace, the trick is to let an intruder access the attic and the shoot at the creaks overhead. Just another level you may not have thought of.

Stage 10 - Get you a Doberman guard dog :)

  • @WolfSurvivalUK

Because I live in the UK, only criminals are allowed to defend themselves leaving good people vunerable. In response I have a wide range of "gardening implements" which I train with as well as martial arts weapons around the home in stratigic locations. Alarms and a dog. I pray for a change in the law but I know it will not come. So it is a matter of improvisation for good people while the filth continue to carry guns and knives in the street to prey on the defensless.

+Oliver H perhaps in your experience. I deal daily with victims of crimes of violence. The majority of whom would be considered easy targets. The he cowardly filth which prey on them tend to run from those able to defend themselves.

WolfSurvivalUK Experience is nothing but anecdotes. Statistics say that the "cowardly filth" don't tend to run from "those able to defend themselves" but kill them before they can defend themselves. The others have a chance to get away with their lives. A higher availability of firearms tends to go along with a higher rate of firearms use in crime, and consequently a higher rate of homicides. Because dead people don't shoot.

+Oliver H I have never seen statistics that say criminals go after the harder targets that can defend themselves and leave the weak alone. That sounds a lot like a liberal mindset. I don't believe those statistics you talk about even exist. Experience IS everything. If you were attacked and had a bodyguard, would want one that has experience dealing with that sort of thing or someone that just read a book about it? If someone told you that you had to pick a fight with someone, would you look for the weakest looking person or would you go for the biggest guy in the place that was open-carrying a firearm with a shirt that says, "Guns don't kill people, I do"???Your comments are just plain silly.

How about replacing the front sign with "SMILE YOU'RE ON CANDID CAMERA" with some visible security cameras that have off site storage so the criminal cannot get away. Dog pack. Electronic ear protectors so you can disable the person's hearing. Extremely bright flashlight so you can disable their vision. Mace or gun and cell phone on person at all times. Gas mask & 2 oz tear gas at bedside to clear house. How about fire and smoke in the middle of the night when your shutters are down?

All great ideas Kent :) All these shutters can also be manually opened from the inside - I was concerned about fire and smoke too. I have fire extinguishers every where in the house, also carbon monoxide detectors. Security cameras are in place and some are visible. Hmm.. never thought about the gas mask idea to clear the house- very creative!

In place of the Mace, use Wasp spray. Mace is only good to about 8-10 feet and will fog and possibly affecting you as well. The Wasp spray will spray in a stream, about 20' and is very effective. It also requires an antidote only available at the local ER. It will not wash off with water.

Ken Rasmussen Wasp spray is a good idea for the home in addition to, not instead of, tear gas canisters for use on the whole home. For carrying at all times maybe in a working purse but not in a pocket. I am a disabled physician, all chemicals in the eye are treated with copious amounts of water. In chemical laboritories in the halls there are eye washing stations in addition to chemists typically wearing the largest sized lens. See KZread cold fission videos to see the old chemists giant eye glasses. At home for my own eyes I would flush my eyes with water then take ibuprofen 800 mg for pain. Eye patients in the hospital can have extreme pain from injections under the conjunctiva which lies over the sclera. Ophthalmologist also have topical anesthetics but it take time to go to ER much better to wash immediately. Time is critical!!! Netter's textbook on anatomy in any public library if the anatomy of the external eye is unclear to you. Also if anyone points a gun at you turn your back almost no one gets shot in the front according to a U. of Miami anesthesia resident I talked to.

fabtessari Well I am a gun collector and Gunsmith, so I have a ton of guns, not all are legal. Plus I have total almost 100 thousand rounds of ammunition because I target shoot for fun and on a team. So if the SHTF I am not too worried about protecting myself. I am not a prepper. I only stock up booze in case of a big snow storm lol. But the lady in this story with the Hurricane shields would be sitting in a good position as it would take a small army to get thru that. When the end comes, the end comes and there is nothing I can do to change it. I will do what I can and that's all I can do. I do have several years of military training and some of my weapons are military weapons. A few of them are against the law to own, but I don't care. I live out away from most people so no one bothers me. Actually if the SHTF, I would probably have several people wanting to come and join up with me. They would be friends so that's ok. They would bring food and weapons. If you can't help out others and your friends when shit gets bad, your not worth saving.

Great video, great ideas. Guns are only legal for those who meet the requirements here. Such as having to have a gun-safe, paying a quite fee on a regular basis, etc etc (where I live that is). These weapons themselves are already rather expensive and then add on all the requirements..!

Ah, I see. Still there are any things you can still do to protect yourself and your stuff. We study Krav Maga self defense close combat training - just in case the gun is not with us or taken from us. Do they have that there?

They do have that here, yes. You mentioned all kinds of martial arts in the video haha :) I used to study Judo, if you ever heard of it. Its a Japanese martial art, which uses the strength of your opponent and makes it his weakness. You know what, I will look into martial arts again and get back into it, thanks for highlighting them! Also I am thinking about buying a .25 air rifle. Biggest caliber we have available here (and is legal) and I have seen air rifles be just as deadly as any other firearm. Do you, by chance, have any experience with them?
