I’m 72 on SS can’t come close to all that you buy . But it gives me ideas helps with what I need to buy. You’re a Mom after my own heart helping your daughter with things she needs . I prepare for my 50 yr old son and grandson. My son is an eye roller but my grandson helps me when he can he works 2 jobs. And sends me money not a lot but it makes my heart glad that he cares . I am 70 and here is how I stock up. My neighbor s and I hit estate sales I go straight to the kitchen and buy all the canned goods I am able. I also have told friends/ family I well take all their expired and soon to be expired foods. Every little bit helps

I am like you, I'm 70 and the foods I purchase are those that last a long time like rice, beans, oatmeal, pasta. The other day I opened a can of spaghetti sauce, added a little water and put two handfuls of egg noodles in it. I simmered it for about twenty minutes. It gave me two meals. I still eat two eggs every morning with one piece of toast. I try not to buy prepared meals. I eat fried potatoes with onions and a small piece of meat, pork chop or chicken. If I make mashed potatoes, I make extra and fry the extra with onions the next day. It is hard but I'm getting through. All winter I ate oatmeal for breakfast. When I cook macaroni I shred cheese on it and put it in my microwave to melt the cheese.

I'm totally disabled,and will be able to start receiving my social security in June. I have been working on preparing since 2008. I started with every glass jar food I bought, I'd buy 2. And if I found a sale I would double up. I always had a basic list of food items I would get monthly and flour, oats etc that would have bugs in it. I would freeze it for a week. Then take it out and place it in mylar bags inside a bucket with lid. These items will store for 25 to 30 years if prepared correctly. Anything I could can in glass, dehydrate in the sun I would. Can goods that has an acid base like tomatoes I would find in number 10 cans and recan it in glass jars. If anything that has a acid base will take on the metal taste after a while. So to save it I just recan it. I noticed this time of year, it's difficult to find canning jars. I am having a very difficult time finding wide mouth jars in quart and pint size. And the standard quarts are $15. 99 for 12 jars. So I'm checking online to find wide mouth jars. And it's unreal the prices for 12 jars. If anyone has found a store or shop that has wide mouth quarts and pints please share the store or shop along with prices if you know. I would love to have 4 wide mouth gallon jugs also. Hello, I'm going to be 70 this year. Even if I could buy all of that, I live alone so I will be dead and gone for years before all of that is used up. I'll have to put what I do have in my will as it is. Over the last 3 years, I have built up about one years worth. I do continue to replace and add a few cans. Even cleaning supplies, tooth brushes, propane cans.. I have stocked up.

My Dollar Tree has the Hereford brand taco meat for $1-25 per pouch. I got one to try this week and if they’re good, I’ll buy more! And, OMG! Apollo has grown into a beautiful dog! I can’t believe it’s been a year since he joined your family! 🐶

I have a lot of Manstay jars. Never had any problems. I can my meats in them.

I bought those jars. They were fine except 1 or 2 jars didn’t seal, but you don’t have to use the lids that came with them

A case is also good for a mug out bag for coffee and the coffee condiments.

I have used these jars recently. I did not have consistent luck with them. Out of four pint patches in my Instant Pot Max at least 1 did not seal. Then later after being put on the shelf I lost a couple more. I believe I will stick with Ball, Kerr, or Harvest. Good luck

I tried some from Amazon (No Brand) but I used ball lids and had a 100% success rate. I would use these lids for dried foods and ball lids for canning. Best wishes!

Use different lids with the jars. I prefer FORJARS lids. Better than Ball.

If you don't have plenty of water for yourself and your pets. Eating freeze dried foods are damages. You have to have a great source of water for all.

You can eat freeze dried food without water, may not be optimal but its food and nouishment.

Thank you, your video is great. Many necessary products in your haul. Buy now runaway out of control inflation is happening now. What we save on our stash will be used paying for gas, utilities etc. The only control we have is buying hopefully sale or low-cost now.

You're so right about kibble not having much of a long shelf life Freeze dried is a great idea! Much more convenient than cans. Great pet products! My Husky would Love that Duck Medley! She goes nuts for duck. 🐶🐱

Great info. One thing you don't ever seem to touch on is people with little to no disposable income. My husband is on disability, with advanced MS. I just started SS, but due to bone marrow issues, I tire easily, so getting a steady job, kept putting me in the hospital. We do try and get a few extra things, every month, and I can my gardening, in the summer, and if we are lucky enough to get chicken with bones, from food bank, that is automatically boiled and canned. If everyone had your budget, we could all do this. I don't know about others, but you make a lot of people, I talk with, feel we are inferior. We never planned our lives like this. We had good jobs, we saved, and then all of our lives plans changed,with one diagnosis. Even your jar meals; you use thrive, extraordinarily expensive. Maybe try on of these,neither a 10-20$ a month to work with

I started watching this channel because I watch a lot of Dollar Tree meals videos and the algorithm brought me to this and her Dollar Tree meals. Most of the shelf stable options in her videos I have found in Walmart, Dollar Tree, Amazon and Dollar General.

I think the point of these videos is to show people what is possible. She always explains why she does things the way she does. Your situation is yours. No one can make you feel inferior. You do that to yourself. If these make you feel bad, don't watch.

I am hearing both in the USA and Canada that people are opening canned food and finding less food, more liquid.

I love that the pockets in the makeup case are waterproof in case you have liquids or creams. And it's pretty!😊

You should train your larger dogs to pull a travois. If you need to hoof it overland, a travois will carry a lot over difficult terrain.

Make sure you get your dog(s) used to wearing the backpack. We had our first two carry their water bottles, food, dishes and poo bags on hikes. They got totally excited when the backpacks came out. Our third dog refused to take a single step with a backpack on - yes she was a diva.

Thank you for your concern, but I do intend to show more in order to help others.

The jars are fine, but the lids and rigs are not very good. They are too thin and bend too easily. They will be fine for vacuum sealer but I wouldn't use them to can.

I have not canned with them yet. But the main stay half gallon jars are $5 less than the Ball half gallons that I've been using to store dry ingredients. Thank you for the ideas. Im also waiting for my shipment of those pet food storage bins I saw in one of your previous videos 🐶🐱. Our walmart doesn't carry them in stock.

Maybe buying a package of each and trying them for yourself to see if they suit your taste would be a good idea.

Blueberries are also good for their Joi.Use the freeze dried blueberries from my dogs and they absolutely love them

It was liquid 😊 I boiled several turkey carcasses to make the broth, and then pressure canned it 😊

Jara for someone who’s been prepping for four years please do not show your prepper pantry. I was suggest that you just show one shelf but not sure anything else. You can make the shelf there on your table and say this is how you do it you put all this together in tomatoes products here and I put this, but please do not show your pepper pantry. When you do you put a big bull’s-eye on your home. Fellow preppers, and KZreadrs are not the only ones who watch your pantry. You do not want the government to come knocking on your door one day. How will they know people will tell them for a price, and even though it’s only at the state level, there are people who work for the government that watch these videos to find out what people are stocking. So be very careful. I would hate for you to come to any harm. So if you’re going to show anything else future just make a display on your table and tell how you do it. Please.
